My bike is paid for (Still not ridden yet :o )

40 per day to zero, 10 days £100 yeehaa.

On day 8 I forgot my patch. The day went ok so I decided to keep patch free too.

I cannot express how good I feel right now.

JS - Congrats on your mega jump to freedom.

You know what, I too get that feeling 'Oh heck, why do I have to keep on taking these NRT things - they're such a bore - I can do without them'...... which is a bit rich coming from me who's spent the past 34 years insisting on having 20 to 30 cigs a day and not complaining about it.

But I'm very wary to cut out the NRT just in case it's a ploy by that little 'devil within' to say 'go on - just try and go without it and I'll wait until you get stressed out and then BAM *gotcha*!'.

With NRT I still feel as if I'm addicted (Well, I am addicted to the nicotine in NRT) and therefore I feel that I must be rid of it once and for all......(Sorry I'm going round in circles here.....)... and until then I'm still trapped - and I want out asap.

So, so tempting to take the mega leap to total freedom. (I wonder if the NRT compaines just say 'Oh, but you must must must stay on the NRT for three months....... or........ the devil will have your soul.......and we'll be poorer).

Pete - <--- Desperate to get rid of the NRT because it gets right up 'is nose it does.

They are trying to keep you on their product.

I spoke to my cessation nurse yesterday and she is planning to step my patch down to 14mg after 6 weeks, I said to her 'I thought I was supposed to step down after 8 weeks' and she said no, they're just trying to milk it for what it's worth.

Meercat

I too would love to keep the patch off, but knowing last time when I reduced after 3 weeks, it didn't work, I started smoking again (mind u a lot of stresses as well, didn't want to use it as an excuse to start again, but did) but now 3 weeks down the line am keeping to the 3 month rule (I think) 8 weeks high, 4 weeks medium, 4 weeks low, then nothing, it is very worrying though, could be mind over matter, who knows, anyway, keep strong.

Well just to let you know, since not using patches from Tuesday, I get little cravings now and again, but I did with the patches too. Maybe I've made a mistake, I don't know. I only did 7 days on the patches. One thing I do know is that little devil is gonna have to work overtime on me and it will still do him no good. I am smoke free and I'm staying that way. yes I will get cravings and yes I will have bad days but will 1 cigarette soothe and comfort me? Will it bo****ks. It'l make me cough and go dizzy. Do I want that? Nah.

JS - Very cool - last post of yours. Total commitment - and that *cannot* be beaten.

Last night - instead of me having a dream that I had accidentally smoked a cigarette - I dreamt that my wife had smoked a cigarette - and in the dream - she said to me - 'Oh - I feel soooooo silly now - why did I do that? The guilt is way way more than what I thought I'd get (and I did get) from that cigarette. Smoking *even* one is *not* worth it'.

I rather liked that dream. Cos for once I could say 'Look, I *told* you so...........'

(And normally it's the other way round in my house!!!) :D
