hello everyone

Sorry to sound so pessimistic but I feel really 'lost' and 'sad' tonight. I'm wandering round the house like a little girl lost. I don't know what to do . I

dont want to smoke cos I know it,ll make me feel bad but yet part of me reckons a cig will make me feel ok. How long have I got to put up wth these feelings for?? I really am p****d off guys.HELP!

karen

This is probably your lowest point, it will ease up you know that x x

You've read enough here and helped support people enough to know full well you can do this x x

you know it's not going to be easy but you know you can do it. x x x

Help yourself as much as you do others x x

Can you take a walk, Tidy a room, phone a friend, draw a picture, read a book, get stuff ready for the morning, play some music, surf the net (bored.com) keeps me amused for a bit or youtube, write down your feelings, write a poem, write a song, write a childrens story, sew on those missing buttons, sort out a draw have a long hot soak or paint your nails!

Anything!! but don't give in x x you've a small hurdle to jump bet you've had more than a few of those in the past!

Hi Karen Sorry you feeling so low but its does seem to be a part of giving up feeling so lost and like something is missing a bit like grieving it all sounds so common. I dont really know what is the answer for you as we all have to find what works for us individually, having said that a mate of mine told me when the cravings get really bad I had to practice deep breathing(he does martial arts) so some nights especially when Im having few classes of wine I do it and after a couple of minutes it works.I have NRT patches and gum so maybe its easier for me but whatever you do to quit is good and when you wake up in the morning and you say "I didnt smoke even when it got tough" Its such a good feeling Good luck hope you are ok Sue xx

Hi Kazza

Please don't try all Buffy's suggestions at once - I'm tired just reading it all:D

Good advice though - just try to find something even if it only takes ten minutes or so, it's your mind otherwise occupied.

it does get much, much better - stick with it - we're all rooting for you:)

Thanks folks.

I've taken all your thoughts on board and used a couple of our suggestions. At present I am sat on my sofa with my laptop surfing withdrawal symptoms. I must add that I am watching 'Alien vs Predator' on DVD (nothing like abit of blood and guts to take the mind off smoking!lol) I also have a btl of stella onthe go! As mentioned in a previous post alcohol has the effect of strengthening my resolve to quit rather than tempt me to smoke. Besides I could do with a good nights kip! Thanks again

Hi Kazza, Sue 'n' Buffy

Ahh the demon drink.. but at least you don't want to drink at 7.10 am when you get up then at 7.45, then 8.20 then every hour on the hour - just like buses only more regular - the joys of being smoke free!!

I read a survey that said 99% of people who drank alcohol in the evenings, once becoming a non smoker, were far more civilised than monkeys and suited men who work in 'the city'!!:D

In the days of nicotine patches and now slimming patches ,has anyone come up

with a red wine patch?! I bet you could make a fortune on e-bay!!!!

Hey goood idea - we could market it as health giving (depending which report you read this week) - take some used nicotine patches and soak them in red wine (not too much don't want to waste it) and flog it on Ebay - folks will buy anything off there.

On the same lines my sister and I (ooh posh) were once on the 'phone for a good couple of hours, truly cheesed off with kids, husbands, life in general when we came up with the most amazing marketing idea (never did send in that patent!) - well you know the saying 'end of my tether'? Well we thought we could probably sell leather tethers - 'Are you at the end of your tether - what you need is a genuine 100% replacement leather tether, it doesn't matter whether you've never had a tether what you need is a leather tether!'

My were we bored!!! :)

Keep Going

it will make you feel better and then about half an hour later you'll start to feel crappy again. All of yesterday will of been for nothing if you have so much as a drag. If I quote Allan Carr, 'don't feed the monster'. Just wait it out, infact don't wait it'll make you feel worse. Subconciously wait. Okay I'm talking crap now hahha.

Go for a walk or watch TV - stuff your face its what I do (yeah sounds rich coming from someone on the 2nd day and has tried to quit about forty thousand times).

Weight can be lost. Its changable, eventually smoking might do something to you that is irriversable so think of it long term.

ITS NOT WORTH IT, I FEEL P*SSED OFF TOO!

btw, I love red wine and the real withdrawl symptoms or bad feeling quitting smoking will give me is when I have to 'limit my alcohol intake'. Ha, yeah right.

I'll spend friday night crying on the floor sh*tfaced and begging for a fag I'll never get. Eventually I'll get used to it though, if there's none there I know I can't smoke so i'll have to get over it.

:) :) :) :)
