One day...

Hello folks, just joined. Have been trying to give up all year, the most i managed was a week on holiday with patches. Not really giving up i know, but by the end of the week had a nice gravelly laugh, which made me laugh each time i laughed....anyway, after months of trying various methods, i've nearly done my first 24 hours of not smoking cold turkey - (already had about 3 arguments with the other half and work colleagues, but luckily im working from home today).

I led a busy and stressful work life, so i thought i'd quit on the weekend and fight with people i really care about. However, it means no bars, pubs, clubs or smoking sections in restaurants at least for the next 2 days. And def staying away from the patches...

No point, just a rant (and willing to try anything). Oh and 1 question, I know giving up changes has an effect on most senses - does this include sight?

Heres hoping to seeing sunday without smoking

One Day - is today!

Hiya moshmoke,

Welcome! x x x x

Well done on you!

IMHO, Stress, in heindsight, was never actualy cured by smoking ! I was always just as stressed as before, after smoking?!

Great question on sight it never occured to me! then reading the RNBI info thrown up by justin was real interesting ( or should i say shocking?! )

Great to see more and more reasons to stay off it

thanks folks...

Thanks for the supportive messages. Actually now day 4 (as I havent smoked since 3pm on thurs). Such a great feeling, I played some sports yesterday and i actually wasnt to badly out of breath. Its actually really amazing that after only 3/4 days there so much difference. And no more urges...in fact im getting that thing were i cant really stand other peoples smoke anymore... :D

One piece of advice, always stop smoking in the afternoon if your going cold turkey. I stopped at 3pm, which means that i didnt get urges until about 12pm the next day and it was only a few hours before it was a 24 hour milestone, which was a good incentive....i dont think stopping in the evening is ever that easy...especially if you have that I'll give up tomorrow attitude...although different strokes for different folks

I light my first cigarette at the age of 13. Since then I’ve been actively smoking for 12 years. Now, I’m a non-smoker for over a year. I only regret that I didn’t quit earlier.

I decided to help smokers quit so I made a website for every little information that smokers need to stop this horrible habit. smokerness.com

Best regards,

Nenad
