bowler, I have had a couple of horrendous evenings/nights this week with the itch. However, a couple of weeks ago I had a bad reaction from insect bites and took a couple of anti-histamine tablets when the irritation from those was at its worst. For the next week or so I thought my long-standing itch had resolved. The fact that it is now back does point to the anti-histamine pills having helped in that direction too. However, I'm a little concerned about taking anti-histamine permanently in case it has a detrimental effect on the kidney function.

I do hope you will be luckier and your itch doesn't return after stopping the anti-histamine - do please let me know.

Like you I am reluctant to take any more meds. than I need to re to my kidneys, but I relented due to this awful itching, and what with the hot weather we have had didn't help, [ although I'm missing it today ] I did drink more water as suggested so maybe that also helped, I have had the odd itch but nothing like it has been, so I don't think it has gone completely, I really hope I don't have to resort to the anti histamines again, but it seems there isn't much else can be done for it ? I will let you know.

this itching is due to uric acid acumilating in blood, do a test for serum uric acid, u may try apple cider vinegar b4 meals , visit you tube and find about using apple cider vinegar

wish you good health

Also try water mellon, and without fail eat a green aplle every day to remove body toxins

I have just had results for a recent blood test, uric acid normal, even my eGFR has gone up to 42 was 38, but creatinine still a little raised at 113. My itching hasn't returned since having a couple of anti histamine's.

I still haven't tried apple cider vinegar for fear of upsetting my digestive system, [ I have gall stones, hiatus hernia, diverticula, irritable bowel ] I don't want to upset the apple cart , excuse the pun.

Anti histamin is not the remedy 4 itching,u have to remove all gathered waste from ur system , normal creatinine level is ,8 to 1,1 , so u kno y so much itching yet , water melon is a good toxin remover, try some water melon 4 few days, go to u tube and type apple cider vinegar , it will give u more info,

Also try to go to "ginger treatment 4 kidney failure,AN INDIAN AYURVEDIC DOC will explain how he recovered from kidney problem

wish u good health, give up smoking,do not eat red meat , refrain from eating potasium rich foods
