Hi ! My daughter is 2 with hydronephrosis and have been doing very well. The doc has given us a few surgical options but is leaving it in our hands. She has 50/50 function so he does not really want to remove any part of her kidney just yet.
I want to give her body time still and we believe God is in the process of healing her. Once we do a surgery and alter her physically there’s no going back. I don’t feel qualified to select which surgery would be the best option. If it’s up to me right now I’d just wait a bit longer.
My question. Is anyone have a child with hydronephosis who opted out of surgery? And if so how are they doing ?

Hi my son 9 has been four times on surgery because we wait to long for his first surgery . His kidney became to big with the years . Know his kidney its not working so good and we are waiting for the last surgery that will be to remove that his left kidney .
Hi Hydro... my son is almost in exact same situation.. but he is only 3yo. May i ask what the doctors say.. will he be fine with his other "good" kidney? Does he have slightly lower GFR due to having only one functional kidney?
Yes his right kidney us working good , at first the plan was a transplant but as he has been over for to long with his kidney so big and not working how it should he had a ureter damage . So know he plan is just remove and keep on eye on his good kidney . Some special diet and treatments wil work good for his health
My son was diagnosed with hydronephrosis at 1½ and the damage was so severe that the scan shows 0% performance on the right kidney so we did the surgery and he is doing very fine now
