My top 3 tips for helping to manage my son’s symptoms and experiences - 1) try to stay calm and keep my son calm when he's sick or experiencing bad side effects from prednisone or whatever drug he may be on. If my son sees me upset and worried, he'll become upset and worried, so I try my best to take a deep breath and keep everyone calm - you will get through this! 2) stay in close contact with my son's nephrologist - they are very re-assuring and don't mind answering questions that I sometimes feel stupid for calling about - better to ask and get the right answer than guess and get it wrong - especially when taking over the counter drugs for colds or body aches. 3) as much as possible, let my son live as normal a life as possible. As much as we want to protect our children and keep them safe, we have to let them do things and experience life in their own way - this is easier said than done, for sure!
