Does anyone have to catheter their child 4 times a day to drain the bladder? My sons urologist is wanting us to do this and I don’t want to torture my 2yr old son 4 times a day every day!

Hello...does your son have a neurogenic bladder. My son has had bladder and kidney issues since birth and he is 30 years old now and on the list for a kidney transplant. He has a neurogenic bladder and has had to catheterize since age 11. He was not always compliant, but after years of not doing it, his kidneys failed and here we are. I am here to tell u how important it is to catheterize. I wish you and your son all the best.

Thank you. We are going to get a second opinion on 29 October at the children’s hospital in Philadelphia

We have not been told he has a neurogenic bladder. Hopefully the urologist at CHOP will shed some light on this

I hope it is something that can be corrected because he is so young and they can catch it early. As a parent I understand how you feel...I have had to go thru this since my son was 2 months old and they had to do surgery for a blockage in his urether. Here we r 30 years later and he is facing a transplant.
