Transplant and keeping Medicare after esrd Medicare runs out.

I found posts that were very helpful about being on the esrd Medicare then receiving a transplant. After 36 months they say you lose Medicare if you are not 65. I will be 62. I heard that once notified of Medicare ending you can stay on Medicare under a transplant Medicare. Please does anyone know about this? Can anyone help me find out about this. I was on dialysis for over 5 years then a friend became a donor for me. My kidney has been good but I have developed other medical issues after. I applied for disability thru my husbands record but after months was told my husband who is on social security etc has plenty to share they said he has to be deceased. I don’t have my own credits due to being a housewife for 30 years and taking care of my elderly parents. Care someone help.

Hi ESRDRLS, I am so sorry you are under so much stress, like you don't have enough already handling your health! Did you get help with this MEdicare question? My spouse had the kidney transplant at age 59 and never was on dialysis which I know MEdicare handles no matter your age. He just went off Medicare this year due to the 36 mos was over with. Medicare and ESRD is very complicated. Let me know if you received help. WE found being on medicare under age 65 and having medical insurance through my job was a nightmare for 36 months. I wish you the best.
