Should I get vaccinated. I have antibodies already

Absolutely! My dr told me it’s quantity of antibodies. You will probably get more by being vaccinated ie a greater chance at protection from Covid OR less severe illness if you DO get Covid.

I’m 25 yrs out. My dr said get it. Feel fine after and haven’t hurt my kidney or gotten sick.

Yup 10000% agreed. I'm only two years out and I'm also glad I got the vaccine because kidney patients are at a higher risk of catching various things like the flu and coronavirus and getting much, much sicker.

Surprising if EVERY team is not saying that loud and clear. That should be made quite clear.

I agree fully

My team also recommend vaccination and continued measures of prevention.

Yes! Getting vaccinated will only increase your chances of not getting Covid or of beating it if you do. I have had 3 doses of the vaccine. Protect your kidney (and heart)! Protect your life.

Actually, the quality of anti bodies is also vitally important. It seems that antibodies are in “training mode.” And, over time fewer anti bodies will offer a significant or robust immune response.

Although, it’s also important to have the response in the first place. That’s why my transplant clinic is recommending everyone receive the booster. I received it on day 1 😊

Dear Donna,

Do you want a 'Short', or 'Long(er)' answer.... OK here's BOTH. 'Yes' and 'Yes you should Definitely do this'. (Incidentally IF 'they' offer you a Booster, take that too.)

Nothing like being 'Unambiguous' is there?

Andrew, Are you able to get a booster in UK?

It 'Seems Likely But NOT Certain' currently, there will probably be an Announcement soon.

Andrew, it wasn’t me that questioned the booster. I have had all 3 shots. Very glad I was able but I am still wary of indoor restaurants and crowded events and won’t go to them. Taking a few chances being unmasked outside.

Good luck! I hope the UK offers it to the vulnerable population very soon!

Your transplant team should be monitoring your antibody levels routinely as they draw and submit labs. My husband, when he was asked about the booster shot, was told he still had a high level of antibodies from the Moderna vaccine he received in early Spring and that, as soon as they saw a drop in the level, he would be given the third shot. So ask your team what they know about your situation. Then, if yours isn't routinely doing this, ask them to add it to your labs.

Not what you're looking for?
