It's Never too Late!

Recently we traveled back to our home state of WI. On our way back to WY we were able to meet my donor family. I had my transplant in 1999 thanks to their 16 year old son, Ryan. I cannot even put into words how much this visit meant to me. We were never able to arrange a meeting until now. We have been writing but not quite the same as meeting!! Very emotional! They are Ann & Jeff. Jeff came home from work so he could meet me. They both told me that they know I am keeping Ryan's memory alive. None of his other recipients have reached out to them. Please, if you have had a transplant and have not done so, please contact your donor family. My donor family told me how important it is to know that I am taking care of Ryan's' kidney and his memory.

Contact your transplant center if in doubt how to contact your donor family!

Very inspiring and uplifting.

Whatever and whoever you believe in, both your stories are living proof that there is good in this world that we can always hope for.

Always be safe and be well.

That was a wonderful experience for you, and the family of the donor.

A good reminder . I will do this. I’ve contacted them once but it’s time to do so again.

What a lovely picture! I write occasionally to my donor’s mother. That’s how we keep in contact, as she wishes. I would love to met her, but just writing is fine.
