I am 71 years old and considering donating a kidney to my sister who is 72. If you are in this age category and have donated to someone also the same age category, can you let me know the results?
Also, I get gastrointestinal problems and migraines and I wonder if this will exacerbate the problem. I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure and am the same blood type as my sister.

I donated to a dear friend when I was 66 and she was 69. Unfortunately she only lived for 3 more years, but it was 3 years of good times with family and friends, meeting more great grandchildren and no dialysis. I am in decent health, should be more active, and have had no problems associated with my donation. If I had another kidney I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I rarely think of myself as a donor other than the necessity to keep well-hydrated. Best wishes to you and your sister.
