I am looking for experiences of people who had ABOi transplants. Seems that the treatments are quite involved. Appreciate any feedback

I am type A+ and donated to my friend who is O+ in 2016. She had to undergo some plasmapheresis exchanges for a few weeks after surgery,, and I think she might need to take an extra medication because of it. But she is doing very well. She’s back to work and looks younger and healthier than ever! I marvel at the fact that I wouldn’t even be able to donate blood to her, but the kidney donation worked our just fine 😊

In the four years since the Trasplant did she have any rejection episodes to the kidney?

I don’t think so, but I will ask her to remind me of the details. I know she had to be rehospitalized a few weeks after her original discharge in 2016, and she undergoes kidney biopsies from time to time. I will get back to you if I have anything more to add.

Was this an action of last resort. How long was she on the Trasplant list. Are biopsies to check the Trasplant and is this standard for ABOI Trasplant procedure?
