Fluid entry/intake is very slow. My draining speed is pretty fast/normal. However the fluid entry is really slow (it used to take 10 mins,it's taking 30-40 mins.. any idea what could be the cause

You need to talk to your PD nurse about this. The cause could be many things. She is the expert and should have the answer for you.

Best of luck!

Hi Opinionkiwi. I'm a caregiver to my husband who is also on peritoneal dialysis. Your fluid entry is way too long, my hubby's is 10 to 15 mins like what you experienced earlier. I suspect that your catheter has moved/migrated internally somewhat to an area which obstructs the intake of your solutions. I believe the fix is quite easy in these situations - your doctor can manually manipulate it to a better place and, in some cases, the catheter can even be stitched in place so it never moves away again. I'd have a little chat with your nephrologist. While I suspect this isn't serious, it's something my hubby would want to correct as soon as possible. Those dialysis sessions last too long as it is. Lol.

Do you have fibrin build up and maybe need Heparin injected into your bag of solution to break it up ?.. Or could be positional or raise your bag higher

Super late reply but- turns out I had severe infection and there was LOT of fibrin buildup. I opted for removal of the catheter and now on hemodialysis.

Just answered in case someone has similar questions
