Feel so tired from eating, not sure what I can eat

I was feeling fine until last month, so I went to check the creatinine number this month, it was 1.3 in last December (eGFR 61) but this month got up to 1.4 (eGFR 56.4) , I was feeling alright eating rice before, but now even rice made me feel tired too. I am really lost and not sure what to do, I thought the doctor said I shouldn't felt anything unless my creatinine got up to 1.7 or 1.8. Does anyone have any suggestions that can help me? Really appreciate it!!

You may be anemic. ...that happens alot with declining kidney function. Let your Doctor know and he can test your Hemoglobin..

Personally, I love blueberries. You can eat pretty much any plant, unless you've been told to limit potassium or phosphorous, then you can still eat berries and apples and salad veggies and many nuts (don't know offhand which are high in those minerals), also oatmeal, tofu, corn. Not sure who told you to eat only rice, or why, or whether your weight is normal, or if your kidneys are really declining or your latest test was just a normal variation.

Anyone with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) shouldn't eat products involving rice, flour, etc. because of their high sugar and carb values. Some fruits and veggies are also very high in sugars and carbs. (A generalized folksy comment for diabetics is to really check the "white foods".) You mention blueberries. Yes, blueberries (virtually all berries) are excellent. Diabetes is a the leading cause for new kidney disease at 44%, followed by high blood pressure - often the outcome of diabetes too.

Hello. I found once I removed very high protein items, ESPECIALLY LIVER(!), my egfr and creatinine really really plummeted. Was amazing result almost immediately. There is a lot of info on the internet about limiting protein if you eat a lot of it generally... Have a look and you can also find the list of foods you can eat on all sorts of websites for those with kidney disease. All the best, D

Do you drink plant protein instead?

Hi JFV - I do have some - pea protein or something in Welleco’s protein elixir product, along with my smoothie for lunch… but for supper I eat my rigorously fat removed boiled pork, or eggs, or lean chicken etc.. but i only have small amount each time. No need to remove it from you diet, for me anyway. It’s all about moderation and a healthy diet - of course. I have severe pancreatic insufficiency and probably about to be diagnosed with Bile Malabsorption (BAM) so i can’t eat fatty, oily foods… can’t digest, even with the highest prescription of Creon (pig digestive enzymes). Hope that helps. D

Your recent increase in creatinine levels and feeling tired after eating rice are concerning. It might be a good idea to consult your doctor again to discuss these changes and explore potential dietary adjustments or other steps to manage your symptoms.
