About a month ago I had an ultrasound on my gallbladder, but they also looked at surrounding organs. Everything came back fine except that my right kidney had cortical atrophy and increased echogenicity. Last week I had an ultrasound on both kidneys. Nothing came back about echogenicity, but it said that both kidneys had mild cortical atrophy. I had an ultrasound on my kidneys in 2017 because I was peeing frequently. So comparing the measurements from 2017, my kidneys have shrunk slightly.
2017
Right = 11.1x6.6x5.6 cm
Left = 11.6x5.7x6.1 cm
Dec, 2023
Right = 10.7x5.2x4.5
Left = 11.2x5.7x5.7
The most recent ultrasound was done by a trainee. He was being indirectly guided through the ultrasound by another person.
All of my blood and urine labs are completely normal. Nothing points to kidney issues.
I have to wait until February 14th to go to a specialist.
Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
