MRI contrast
You need to talk with your nephrologist. That being said, I had a transplant and there are times that you need to have an MRI or a CT Scan with contrast for a diagnosis. My doctor has me drink more water than usual the day before the test and for several days after. 2 weeks later he runs my renal labs to just to make all is stable. For me at least, all has been OK. Check with your doctor.
YES very hard on kidneys and unnessacary with modern day machines which show alot of detail .I have read this .
Read up about this on internet then go talk to your doctor again about it . The tests can be done with out the contrast and show very good results .
I had a CT checking for lung blood clots. Nothing. Dr said use contrast. Bingo. Saved my life! They flushed the IV line with extra saline and I did drink more water after. Some tests are very difficult to get accurate results without a medium, it’s a matter of is it worth the risk? For me it certainly was, one lung completely blocked, other at 40%, but only showed w contrast.
