A GFR of 19 indicates that you are in stage 4 of chronic kidney disease. Diabetes and hypertension are the leading causes of CKD. Talk to your doctor about treatment options for end stage renal disease. It is important to avoid a high sodium, high potassium, and high processed food diet. You also want to avoid high levels of phosphorous and sugar. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietician that can make an individualized meal plan for you.

Are you not considering Peritoneal dialysis which they said is gentler than hemodialysis? Have you explored in having a kidney transplant?

I have no room in my home for PD, and I can't get a transplant. My Cardiologist says my heart won't take it.
