Has anyone had issues with smelling things real strong? I can smell dry instant oatmeal from a room away! All smells are exagerated!

My daughter has problems with food smelling foul when her blood sugars are high. She is a type 1 diabetic.........no kidney issues.

I have the same issue. I was diagnosed with CKD three years ago, and I've been like that for the last two. I don't know if it's kidney related or not, I have no other condition but high blood pressure.

What other smells do you deal with most? What stage are you now? Are you being treated or seeing a neph?

I have stage 3A CKD. I have the most issues with white bread, cooked eggs, and any kind of scented cleaners, laundry det. and fabric softener. I had to stop using my fabric softener, even though I have used it for years. I can't stand to wear my clothes if I use it because it smells so strong. I even tried cutting it way down and it didn't help. Kind of an odd assortment of things. I don't see a nephrologist yet. Just my PCP for now.

What did your PCP say about the smell issue. Anything to make it go away?

I've actually never asked her about it. I have allergies and I just figured it was probably because of that.
