Urinalysis and Dilute urine : Protein in urine ?

Hi, I'm 25 years old guy, I regulary have foamy urine for some month now

I talked about it to my doctor and he ordered an urinalysis , the problem is I drank a lot of water before the test and it may have affected it ?

The result of the urinalysis :

Protein : 4 mg / dl , normal : 0 - 14

Creatinin : 32 mg / L, normal : 58-161

Protein / creatinin ratio : Not calculable ( don't know why )

Absence of cast , red and white blood cell under 1000 per mm3

Is 4 mg/dl in dilute urine abnormal ? I should have 0 no ?

Start taking better care of yourself now...while you are young. I wish someone would have gotten that through to me. Stop drinking, smoking, and meating meat and dairy to help protect your kidneys.

I’d ask for another test and try to do it first thing in the morning- ideally your first pee

Foamy certainly needs checking out. Trouble about a random sample is that it's not going to give you that accurate a figure. That's okay if you're like "us": CKD-ers who get checked regularily and for whom a blip reading matters less. I'd suggest a 24 hour sample - where you pee everything into a container. Follow the instructions carefully (e.g. only capture one morning pee) and drink ordinary levels of water.

Best of luck!

Hmm... So you have low protein and creatinine values. It's my understanding that overhydration as well as a very low protein diet, autoimmune disorders, liver issues, malnutrition or malabsorption, etc. can create low protein values. Foamy pee is a very crude (nonscientific) indication of high protein values which you don't seem to have. So it's unclear to me, and no one here is a diagnostician, as to what led to your foamy pee - perhaps it's the cleaners used in the bowl, perhaps it's the strength of your stream, perhaps it's indeed is a diet or physical issue. In your case, I would satisfy my concern by returning to a doctor and asking for a comprehensive metabolic panel and, while doing that, ask about your water intake prior to the blood draw. Sending positive vibes your way.
