Hi guys! I am new to all of this. I have been a Vegetarian for over 20 years. Do not Drink or Smoke..Never did Heavy Drugs...Been Walking and Jogging since 2015...2 to 3 times a week...Cut out Sugar... Take Unsweetened Cranberry Juice...Apple Cider Vinegar...B vits...Flaxseed...Vit C...See an Acupuncturist and Herbalist and Meditate and Follow Donna Eden and Deepak Chopra but I think taking Psychotropic Meds that I take are not good for my CKD!! But no Doctor will say that! Has anyone been through this? I am Stage4!! Thank you...Signed Very 😟 Concerned...

Hi Sathya 77 the best advice I can give you is to ask a RD and your nephrologist about this (if you don't then get one). Unfortunately it's very likely that the herbs that you are taking have not been properly researched. One that is known to be damaging the kidney taken constantly is mint. Otherwise most of the things that you do sound very healthy but you will have a choice to make regarding your herbalist as this person most likely do not have the proper qualification to understand a kidney disease and it's quite complex. I think the RD would be the best qualified person to ask first and it's possible that he/she deflect the question to the nephrologist. Psychotropic meds could have negative side-effects and yes you should mention that to your specialist and they should know what to monitor. Some may have an effect on your electrolytes balance for example.

Hello, thank you for the advice. Mint is bad for the kidneys? Never heard about this. What about peppermint tea which I have daily? Thanks for your help.Roberta

I can’t answer your question, but adding broccoli sprouts to your diet might help your body in many ways especially liver/kidneys to remove toxins. They’re easy to grow your own if you can’t find in stores. Just be sure to buy ‘Broccoli Calabrese Seeds’ (not RAAB). Freezing will upto double the strength, so need to consume less to get the same benefits. Plenty of information online & YouTube on how to grow. I’ve been consuming them the past 9 weeks and noticed improvement in my health. No more blood shot eyes, less headaches, less muscle/joint etc. I buy my seeds from Sky Sprouts Organic in the UK.

Here is a link to National Kidney Foundation that explains herbal supplements and kidney disease. Many herbs are high in potassium or phosphorus. kidney.org/atoz/content/her...
