Hi Folks, My son wants to go to nursing school, but is barely handling working full time plus part time classes as it is right now. He is very tired and gets swollen feet every day!
In order to keep insurance he would still need to work - and that would make nursing school impossible! He's too old to be on my insurance. Any advice? What about medicaid?
I am sorry but there is not enough information in your post to help you. I am assuming your son has kidney disease. My recommendation would be to see if someone connected to your doctor could advise on insurance. I would see if he could find a social worker connected with his kidney doctor if he has one.
Do you know if they checked to see what his blood levels are for things like iron. Fatigue is a common symptom with kidney disease. I was treated for anemia with vitamins and iron. But he must check with his doctor to prescribe the right things.
It is hard to go to school and work full time. I know, I did it for years.

I agree that I can only make assumptions since you gave little information. If your son has some sort of CKD, the decision should be his if he is an adult. I am in ESRD, at 13 %, I still work full-time and keep up a fairly active lifestyle. This is just me though, everyone is very different. I get exhausted just the same. Only your son knows what he can handle/not handle. I also believe you should work with nephrologist or doctor to determine the best course for him and a social worker might be very helpful in this situation as well. Whatever the matter, best of luck.
