I’ve been getting nerve pain for years but now it is 3 times a day every day.
First I get pins and needles then I get electric shock type pain, normally arms, then legs, body and face. It last for hours and nothing can stop it. It’s like an itch taking over my body. It’s just awful and last for hours then slowly starts to fade. It feels like something crawling over me when less intense.
Every time I am warm it’s intense.
My doctor just gives me pain relief and blames it on other ailments.
I also get numbness and an unsteady on my feet all the time, I walk with a stick, I fall a lot.
I have a lot of health issues but I don’t believe this is related to them but something else.
Can anyone help?

Hi. I can't claim to know much personally about this, but I know someone who had terrible nerve pain for years and she got relief through nerve block injections. Perhaps you can research that and find out if there is a particular specialist service/consultant you could be referred to.Best wishes. 🌼
i would ask for a neurology referral as there are some red flags, the most obvious being worsening symptoms when you get overheated.
i have something called l'hermittes sign; when my neck moves a certain way i get what i call lightning bolt pain down my spine, all the way into my arms and sometimes down my legs to my feet. i hate it; it keeps me awake, which makes my other symptoms worse.
do you take nerve pain medication? i ask b/c (though less often now), some drs might want to throw opiates at it. some might also give you a muscle relaxer or anti-inflammatory med. i've got other issues (ataxia and dystonia among them), but i found a combo of meds helps me most.
I am so much worse with heat, don’t know why I get hot though. My neck is a problems, so hard to lie down at night, those bolts you mentioned start straight away. Just had an ear infection and the physio said my neck was making it all worse, I had major balance issues,
How do you get on with the duloxetine and side effects. GP has just prescribed this along with my opiates but it says not to take after a heart attack which I hd 3 years ago.
Side effects? I hve awful reactions to a lot of tablets. I'm already on max dose of oxycodone and paracetamol and they want to cut the oxycodone. They've been told to get everyone off opiates. Not going to happen as there's no alternative.
