bad pains during my period

i was 5 days late on my period so i took 3 test, as im never late on my period n they all said negative (one of them was clear blue). Then i come on my period, there is hardly any blood and its just very dark brown. i have really bad pains some of the pains are like stabbing pains, is this normal?

Hi Sam,

What's normal for a period is what's normal for you. I always start off with dark brown spotting before the proper period comes, and my periods are always excruciatingly painful, and have been from my very first 20 years ago, which is fine. However, if this pain is new to you, it's a good idea to get it checked out by a doctor. It might still just be cramps, but better safe than sorry.
