Hi all,
I’m pregnant with twins following my latest (4th) IVF cycle, just passed twelve weeks and so far babies are okay and healthy. I want to get my vaccine, but I am nervous about it (though I’m also nervous about catching Covid!!)
I’ve read a few posts that have made me feel better about getting it but I just wondered when you got your first jab? I was thinking of getting it later in the second trimester when babies are stronger, but I’ve a wedding coming up when I’ll be fifteen weeks, so I thought about going to get it in the next couple of weeks instead when I’ll be just 14 weeks - anyone else had it around then and everything okay?
I’m speaking to my doctor too next week but just wanted your opinion too for ease of mind!
Thanks so much ❤️ Xx
So happy for you!I got mine at around 20'weeks (directly before my 20'week scan)
My brother in law is a scientist, who has spent his life making cancer drugs etc, so trained in making drugs / vaccines, so I got him to talk me through the process and if it was safe for me and baba. I felt confident at the end of it it was and he said he would ask his wife to have it if he was in the same situation.
I have heard that 1 in 5 pregnancies who get covid have the baby early and that's why I decided I wanted to have it. As I said as I was getting it, as a mother the most important thing you can feed your babies is oxygen so I needed to make sure I gave them every chance to have it!
I have about 8 pregnant friends at the moment and everyone has had the vaccine and no one has reported anything bad.
I am 37 weeks and had both and all seems good so I am confident with it!
Good luck and such incredible news!! xxx
Thank you so much ♥️
This is all really helpful advice. I am worried with rising numbers yet easing restrictions that it’s going to make it much easier to catch the virus and I don’t want that, as I’m also still on my steroids! So the vaccine does seem to be the best option for me!
All the best with the last few weeks of your pregnancy!! So exciting ♥️♥️ Xx
Thank you! And good luck with yours - it is so magical so enjoy every second and every wriggle! We are down in Devon and it's a nightmare here now so I am so happy I had mine. Ask yourself dr beforehand but I am sure they will say it is fine but worth checking what they say xxx
Ohh I’m visiting Devon for the day before going to Cornwall on the 19th eek! Didn’t realise numbers were bad there also… definitely need this vaccine!
And thank you! We had an amazing scan yesterday and both babies are just perfect so it’s making me feel more settled and I’m looking forward to the second trimester and watching bump grow!! Xx
I am stood on polzeath beach right now 😂 Cornwall and Devon have had 12 of the 15 highest places for covid in the country from everyone coming down 'on holiday' and not caring. A nightmare for us who decided to stay down here to live!
The scans are magical! I got quite addicted to having them before I started to feel kicks (every 2 weeks) as I just needed the reassurance that baba was happy in there. There is no greater feeling!
Good luck - I am so so happy for you! xxx
Eek, I can see why! We were due to go in July but didn’t as I was nervous back then and ended up sick anyway (with OHSS then).
Good to know though… we’ve got a little Airbnb booked and literally just planned to stay there and go for a walk, eat in as to not put ourselves at risk.
It’s crazy how the numbers are still rising yet life is normal now! Scary.
Aha I’m the same… I’ve had them weekly!!! My next one now though is two weeks away so longest I’ve been!!
Best of luck to you too. Not long at all ♥️ Thank you for taking the time to write back xxx
Not at all, I have been actively thinking about you a lot and had everything crossed! I couldn't be happier about your news! x
I had my 2nd vaccine at 10 weeks pregnant and was absolutely fine, just a sore arm. I then contracted COVID at week 1w after being at a wedding so was very happy to have had both vaccines as I just got cold symptoms, nothing serious and baby is all good and healthy after both the vaccine and COVID
So pleased to hear you were okay after catching Covid. I’ve booked my first vaccine for Wednesday eek! Two weeks prior to the wedding so hopefully I’ll be okay 🤞🏻 Xx
