Covid Vaccine / 2nd Trimester?

Hi all,

I’m pregnant with twins following my latest (4th) IVF cycle, just passed twelve weeks and so far babies are okay and healthy. I want to get my vaccine, but I am nervous about it (though I’m also nervous about catching Covid!!)

I’ve read a few posts that have made me feel better about getting it but I just wondered when you got your first jab? I was thinking of getting it later in the second trimester when babies are stronger, but I’ve a wedding coming up when I’ll be fifteen weeks, so I thought about going to get it in the next couple of weeks instead when I’ll be just 14 weeks - anyone else had it around then and everything okay?

I’m speaking to my doctor too next week but just wanted your opinion too for ease of mind!

Thanks so much ❤️ Xx

So happy for you!I got mine at around 20'weeks (directly before my 20'week scan)

My brother in law is a scientist, who has spent his life making cancer drugs etc, so trained in making drugs / vaccines, so I got him to talk me through the process and if it was safe for me and baba. I felt confident at the end of it it was and he said he would ask his wife to have it if he was in the same situation.

I have heard that 1 in 5 pregnancies who get covid have the baby early and that's why I decided I wanted to have it. As I said as I was getting it, as a mother the most important thing you can feed your babies is oxygen so I needed to make sure I gave them every chance to have it!

I have about 8 pregnant friends at the moment and everyone has had the vaccine and no one has reported anything bad.

I am 37 weeks and had both and all seems good so I am confident with it!

Good luck and such incredible news!! xxx

Thank you so much ♥️

This is all really helpful advice. I am worried with rising numbers yet easing restrictions that it’s going to make it much easier to catch the virus and I don’t want that, as I’m also still on my steroids! So the vaccine does seem to be the best option for me!

All the best with the last few weeks of your pregnancy!! So exciting ♥️♥️ Xx

Thank you! And good luck with yours - it is so magical so enjoy every second and every wriggle! We are down in Devon and it's a nightmare here now so I am so happy I had mine. Ask yourself dr beforehand but I am sure they will say it is fine but worth checking what they say xxx

Ohh I’m visiting Devon for the day before going to Cornwall on the 19th eek! Didn’t realise numbers were bad there also… definitely need this vaccine!

And thank you! We had an amazing scan yesterday and both babies are just perfect so it’s making me feel more settled and I’m looking forward to the second trimester and watching bump grow!! Xx

in reply toXOXO13

I am stood on polzeath beach right now 😂 Cornwall and Devon have had 12 of the 15 highest places for covid in the country from everyone coming down 'on holiday' and not caring. A nightmare for us who decided to stay down here to live!

The scans are magical! I got quite addicted to having them before I started to feel kicks (every 2 weeks) as I just needed the reassurance that baba was happy in there. There is no greater feeling!

Good luck - I am so so happy for you! xxx

Eek, I can see why! We were due to go in July but didn’t as I was nervous back then and ended up sick anyway (with OHSS then).

Good to know though… we’ve got a little Airbnb booked and literally just planned to stay there and go for a walk, eat in as to not put ourselves at risk.

It’s crazy how the numbers are still rising yet life is normal now! Scary.

Aha I’m the same… I’ve had them weekly!!! My next one now though is two weeks away so longest I’ve been!!

Best of luck to you too. Not long at all ♥️ Thank you for taking the time to write back xxx

Not at all, I have been actively thinking about you a lot and had everything crossed! I couldn't be happier about your news! x

I had my 2nd vaccine at 10 weeks pregnant and was absolutely fine, just a sore arm. I then contracted COVID at week 1w after being at a wedding so was very happy to have had both vaccines as I just got cold symptoms, nothing serious and baby is all good and healthy after both the vaccine and COVID :)

So pleased to hear you were okay after catching Covid. I’ve booked my first vaccine for Wednesday eek! Two weeks prior to the wedding so hopefully I’ll be okay 🤞🏻 Xx

I got mine at 13 weeks and all fine. Your risk of COVID at a wedding is higher than any risks from the jab so the sooner the better. However, bear in mind you’ll get minimal protection from a single jab and any you do get will take 10-14 days to develop xx

Hi first congratulations on getting passed 12 weeks 😃 I had my first dose done literally a week before we conceived and second vaccination I booked up - I was 14 weeks. I was strongly advised by my obstetrician to get my second vaccination- they are saying it's even safe in first trimester ( I wanted to wait till after my dating scan if anything went wrong I didn't want to think it was caused by that- I've had 1 late loss and 3 early miscarriages) Anyhow I was very worried making this decision but trusted my obstetrician ( our miscarriage specialist) the risks of getting Covid in last trimester- pre term labour, still births twice as likely and 1-10 pregnant women end up in intensive care unit. I couldn't risk that I also have my 2 year old daughter to consider. The vaccination isn't live and doesn't cross the placenta- the only thing that might cross the placenta is the antibodies that will offer baby some immunity from Covid which is a wonderful thing this isn't yet proven. Hundreds of thousand of pregnant women have been vaccinated and there are no safety concerns- I believe the vaccination is safe just as safe as flu vaccination and much safer for you both than getting Covid in the last trimester. I had a scan a few days afterwards ( they accommodate me more as we lost a baby late on-20 weeks) as I had some spotting ( very unfortunate timing and nothing to do with the vaccination) my baby is absolutely fine & no known cause of bleeding. Your decision of course and not an easy one to make one Xx

Thank you! 🌈🌈

The stats of women In hospital without the vaccine is alarming and that’s why I’ve made the decision to get it done as originally, my GP “off record” had said she wouldn’t advise it but this was also months ago before those stats were revealed.

So pleased everything is going well with this pregnancy for you, I know you’ve had a very rough and emotional journey to get here 💗 xx

Hi there. I got my first a few days before starting stims for IVF and my second at 10 weeks. Baby was wriggling away at my 12 week scan.

I was really nervous to get my second but I watched a great Maternity Action webinar (it’s available on their website), and i decided to go ahead. Trying to avoid contact with others was doing a number on my mental health and I got an opportunity to see my parents after two years apart so I wanted to be protected for me and for them. The stats that scared me are the tripling of stillbirth risk and doubling of pre term birth of you get Covid, and hearing from an obstetrician that women are in ICU having to deliver early. I decided it was the best way to keep me and baby safe and sane. Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy. x

Congratulations on your pregnancy! And thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Sounds like the advice is that getting done now should be fine. Tempted to go Wednesday so I’ve then two + weeks before the wedding and holiday so will feel more protected!

Thank you again, and all the best with your pregnancy 💗 xx

I got both mine late in my 3rd trimester and if I could do over I would have gotten in 2nd trimester so my baby had more time to get immunity. Breastmilk (I’ve since learned) does not deliver the same immunity.

Think everyone’s body is different. Some women get the vaccine and are totally fine and others sadly their pregnancy just doesn’t progress due to the vaccine. My sister inlaw was just over 12 weeks and had the vaccine and miscarried, when she went to her private hospital they said that it was due to the effects of the vaccine. I don’t think anyone can give advice on something like that as every woman is different I think it’s something you have to feel ready for, mentally and physically.

XOXO13 profile image
XOXO13 in reply tols939600

Ow that makes me so sad to hear, I’m so sorry for your friend. I’ve gone ahead and booked it based on the advice of my consultant whose care I’m under. Stories like this make me terrified to get it but then I know a lot of women have also been absolutely fine too… it’s such a difficult and personal decision to make. Mentally I’m probably not ready for it as I’m so worried something will go wrong, but it’s becoming really hard to avoid people and live life now everyone is back to normal. I avoid crowds as best I can and wear masks and carry hand sanitizer, but it’s just too difficult these days! Xx

Jess1981 in reply toXOXO13

I would say the vaccination is unlikely to cause a miscarriage as there has been no reports to link Covid vaccination to higher rate of miscarriages ( no more the normal rate) If you look at royal college of midwives and obstetricians there is a section on Covid vaccination and pregnancy they have informative advice Xx

This sort of misinformation could put a mother and baby at risk . How bout the increase risk of pre term labour and still birth with Covid that is proven that the anti vaxxers conveniently don't mention as it doesn't suit support their argument . I really hate the amount of scaremongering there is out there it's a difficult enough decision for any pregnant women to make as it is 🤦‍♀️ Xx

Seb9 in reply toXOXO13

Sadly about 1 in 4/5 pregnancies end in miscarriage, its an awful statistic, but the actual research studies into miscarriage rates of woman who have had the vaccines have shown no increased rate of miscarriage. If there had been any increase in reported rates of miscarriage, it would be stopped be advised to have it. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage before I'd had any vaccines, but I've gone on to have two healthy pregnancies and had all my vaccines, so it's really unlikely to have had do with having a vaccine, and I also think it would be very rare for a doctor to be able to give a cause of a miscarriage like that at such an early stage without a lot of investigation.

These are the sort of comments I'd really question, they give you some scary information, but without giving you a full picture. Like why was she at a private hospital? Had she had fertility issues already? Could they have been a reason for her miscarriage rather than having a vaccine?

I know I sound very mean, but if a story like this puts your off getting your vaccine and there's more to it than what they've told you, you could be putting your health and babies health at risk. I've seen some really underhand and scary ways people have shared vaccine misinformation and it's worth questioning everything.

I completely agree with you and I'm someone who's had recurring pregnancy losses. This misinformation I find so infuriating and potentially could risk a mother's life. Tell me about it… I agree with you it’s a tough decision so do what you feel is right, no one can tell you other wise but give you advice from both angles. Sometimes that doesn’t help because it just means your stuck in the middle. But god willing you will be fine, and continue your healthy pregnancy till the end❤️… I must say we do live in a strange world at the moment and covid is extremely serious. I’m in two minds about getting the vaccine, I’m 39 weeks at the moment, I have had covid twice before I was pregnant and feel my body has become immune to having it, I most likely still have the anti bodies in my system, but now I also have to make sure that once I give birth family around me are careful because I want to protect my baby. You also have to remember the vaccine doesn’t stop you from getting covid it just prevents you from being hospitalised or put in a coma, it’s more management and treatment is easier when vaccinated. But then again everyone’s body reacts differently to drugs. But remember there is no wrong or right path to take it’s entirely your path your choice so don’t feel bad for any decision u make. Sending hugs and love ❤️

Her miscarriage is likely completely unrelated to the vaccine. How would a doctor ever be able to confirm that it was due to vaccine? What tests determine that? Sorry ButThis sounds untrue.

ls939600 profile image
ls939600 in reply toMsze

Everyone’s body reacts differently to vaccines. It isn’t the first time I have heard of people having a miscarriage caused by it. My midwife also advised meNot to get the vaccine and she’s a health profession. I guess everyone has different opinions and we don’t actually really know. But personally I do believe any vaccine you take doesn’t have to be for covid, has a reaction on your body even if you don’t notice it.

Jess1981 profile image
Jess1981 in reply tols939600

Your midwife is going against the official RGOG guidelines and is being irresponsible. There is no increased risk of miscarriage from the COVID19 vaccination it is the normal rate sadly 1-4/5 pregnancies do not work out. I've had 3 early miscarriages and a late loss at 20 weeks. It is unlikely to be linked to the vaccination. It is a horrible coincidence nothing more. Wheras it has been proven that COVID19 causes pre term labor twice as likely to have a still birth and 1-10 pregnant women end up in intensive care unit. There have been reports of healthy pregnant women with COVID19 that have died after birth. Your misinformation is putting other people's lives at risk. You don't want to get COVID19 vaccination that is your choice and your right but don't give false misleading information to ladies that are struggling to make this decision. It is a hard enough decision to make. The royal college of midwives and obstetricians would NOT advise pregnant women to get a vaccination if there are were any safety concerns as was the original advice before the studies showed the vaccination was completely safe in pregnancy and safer for mum and baby than getting COVID19 in last trimester. I had both COVID19 vaccinations first dose a week before I conceived and second dose at 14 weeks was I scared yes I was ( esp after losses) but I tell you what I'm more scared of getting COVID19 in last trimester..

I think you should read myPost carefully, I never actually gave misleading information, I gave a very Perosnal one, I’m sorry you have felt that my post may have been insensitive or misleading but that is my personal opinion and I’m entitled to it. I also started up above that even if you decide to have the vaccine there is no right or wrong decision. I have met many woman that are for it and that are against it. Every single vaccine your body takes has a risk, it’s a drug regardless, even if you don’t notice it having an effect, everything you put into your body will some how have an effect.

I agree with you miscarriages are very much normal, 1 in 3 women have one, but the covid vaccine there just is not enough evidence on the lasting effects etc.

All the best

What an absolutely horrific thing for your sister in law to be told. This really disgusts me. There is absolutely no way the hospital has evidence that the vaccine caused the miscarriage. In fact it goes against every medical evidence that has so far been gathered. To go through a miscarriage is horrific to then be told it is down to something you did is traumatic. And if this 'something you did' is completely untrue- the damage caused (by something a doctor has said) is in my eyes criminal. I can only hope that you have reassured her that what the private hospital has told her is absolutely complete nonsense and goes against everything the medical profession stands for!

ls939600 profile image
ls939600 in reply toIvfStruggler

It is horrific…I think anyone that goes through a miscarriage it’s a traumatic mental and emotional experience. I’m 39 weeks at the moment and haven’t been vaccinated. I have just heard way to many stories that have put me on edge so I’m stuck in the middle. I have had covid twice before being pregnant, but there is always that worry. My midwife also advised me not to get it whilst pregnant so it’s a strange one really. I take each day as it comes and have faith in god and pray that I and my baby and those around me are safe. The vaccine doesn’t even prevent you from getting covid, it prevents you from being hospitalised. We live in a strange world where we just don’t fully understand what really is going on with covid if I’m honest. It’s very mixed signals. It’s hard to find a direction to turn too when their just isn’t enough information to go by on something that is so new. I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ ❤️❤️❤️

Jess1981 profile image
Jess1981 in reply tols939600

I'm sorry but the information you are giving is misleading and putting others at risk. Healthy mothers are dying of Covid. Pre term labour is more likely and still birth is twice as likely with Covid- I would say based on that proven information it is safer to have the vaccination than risk Covid in last trimester. The miscarriage is very sad and unfortunate that it timed with Covid vaccination but the Covid vaccination did not cause the loss of her pregnancy. That miscarriage would've likely happened even without the vaccination. If there were any increase in miscarriage the Covid vaccination it would not be offered to pregnant women- read the official guidelines. I had a flu vaccination a month before my daughter passed away at 20 weeks pregnant do I blame the vaccination for the death of my daughter no I do not believe it caused her death I had a full post mortem which came back unexplained as it often is with pregnancy losses we don't know why baby's sometimes just stop but sadly some do - why don't I believe the flu vaccination caused her death because hundreds of thousands pregnant women have flu vaccination ( I did previously with my 2 year old daughter) and have healthy babies same as Covid vaccination. I'm sorry but there parts of "your story" that do not add up to me. Why was your sister in a private hospital and not an NHS hospital? On what grounds did the dr blame the vaccination on her baby's death? Where is the evidence? Go prove me wrong. I just do not buy it. Of course it everyone's decision to make & it's a very decision to make. But why on earth would midwives or obstetricians whose profession is wanting to keep babies and mums safe risk them? No respectable doctor would blame Covid vaccination on a miscarriage how and why when guidelines advise it?. Nor would any responsible midwife advocate not getting a Covid vaccination when it is against official guidelines. If they do that they are totally irresponsible and need reporting. Every medic I've spoken to has said "well done good decision " I've never told anyone to get the vaccination I've just said I had it and my baby is okays far hearing others have the vaccination and baby's being ok made my decision a bit easier. . Everyone has to do what is right for them and it's their choice and they are probably better off discussing it with a medic than online where the scaremongering is,

IvfStruggler profile image
IvfStruggler in reply tols939600

Your midwife is wrong and has given you wrong information. The vaccine is safe in pregnancy. Evidence shows it doesn't cross the placenta. The vaccine doesn't always prevent you from getting Covid but it often does- this is what several medical trails have high lighted. I hope you stay safe during the final weeks of pregnancy. Please be careful what you read and write online. If a woman reads your words on the internet and is influenced not to have a vaccine- she and her baby may loose their lives. Take care x

Jess1981 profile image
Jess1981 in reply toIvfStruggler

I agree. It's not an easy decision for any pregnant women to make but I do believe getting the vaccination is safer than getting Covid in the last trimester. I'm not sure I believe her story it doesn't add up sounds like anti vaxxer to me. Even if her sister had a miscarriage after Covid vaccination I am damn sure it was t caused by that - I think the miscarriage would've likely happened even without the vaccination. Sadly some babies just stop suddenly and no one knows why. ( I lost my daughter at 20 weeks)Also no way would a midwife go against official guidelines 🤦‍♀️ The story sounds suspicious to me.

The only thing to read online is the official guidelines set out by the royal college of midwives and obstetricians- they wouldn't advise it if it wasn't safe they didn't before the studies showed it was safe. All the medics I've spoken to have said well done good decision. I do believe it will keep me and my baby safer in these unprecedented times.

If people don't want to have the vaccination in pregnancy that is their choice but spreading misinformation to influence others is putting mother's & their babies at risk which is what made me cross when I read her comments.

I had my first vaccination a week before we conceived and second dose at 14 weeks and I had a scan a few days afterwards ( due to spotting not caused by vaccination and unexplained by sonographer but not my baby) and my baby is so far fine like many other ladies who have had both vaccinations. For me it helped me to know other pregnant women having Covid vaccination and babies being ok it was a scary decision to make and one I didn't enjoy making! Even with both vaccinations my obstetrician has advised me to wear masks in confined spaces social distancing and hand washing to be extra safe . You must do what feels right for you and I wish you the best I know it's a difficult decision to make Xx

IvfStruggler profile image
IvfStruggler in reply toJess1981

Sadly there are medical professionals that are misinformed and give patients wrong information. Isn't that terrible? I hope this isn't an anti vaxxer spreading lies on the internet because that would absolutely make me sick. But if there never was a poor sister in law that lost a baby and then was told it was her fault for taking a vaccine- that would be a good thing. I'm worried about the anti vaxxers getting louder and louder. Now that most reasonable people have had a vaccine and just moved on in life, it's the selfish people that feel they need to scream their misinformed stupid ideas even louder. I hope that this person is just misinformed and either removes the potentially dangerous post or that subsequent readers find what we have written below and are not discouraged from taking the vaccine. You Jess1981 have certainly done your best 👍 take care x

Jess1981 profile image
Jess1981 in reply toIvfStruggler

I'm more cynical ( you are being very kind ) I just don't buy her story - I've read too many anti vaxxers on here trying to push their views onto others. They are unreasonable and don't listen to logic when their argument falls apart - they have no evidence to support their claims. I had a few trying to get into my head and make me wonder if I was doing the right thing that's why I get so angry as I know how it can make you doubt your decision which was a difficult enough decision to make.I don't believe any doctor would suggest it was caused by Covid vaccination when it's in the guidelines to encourage pregnant women to have it. If her story is true ( which I doubt) that doctor should be reported for gross misconduct & struck off permanently. If that was true that poor poor lady I've had 3 early losses and 1 late loss if a medic implied it was my fault I'd be more devastated than I already was to lose a baby. I really can't imagine any dr being so unprofessional when it's against official guidelines and so cruel to blame the poor lady 🤦‍♀️

If the story is true the miscarriage is a pure coincidence otherwise the advice wouldn't be for pregnant women to get vaccinated.

Also no midwife should go against official guidelines ( again I think this is lie) & if she didn't lie the midwife needs to be officially reported for gross misconduct.

Any medic I've spoken are very pro Covid vaccination. That's why I don't believe the story.

Like I said everyone has gotta make a decision that is right for them- that's their choice and right but not to spread misinformation which risks others.

Luckily there are much more positive stories out to say babies are fine afterwards 🥰 those are the ones to read

My husband said there was only decision we could've made that was right for us Xx

Plenty of advice on here for you already 🥰 So no advice really from me - you got to do what feels right for you and your situation. Earlier in our pregnancy - the advice for pregnant ladies was to wait to get the vaccine - then the advice changed. I also felt risk for us changed. So I decided to have the vaccine too, but sadly was already in my third trimester when this all happened. So could not get both doses while pregnant. I had my first dose in week 31 and just had my second dose two days ago - baby is now just over 3 weeks old 🥰 He has been fine so far! Obviously no one knows long term yet, but I suspect low risk as with other vaccines. And I suppose long term risk after covid might again be worse - so still very happy with my decision. We have had to be very careful however due to me not being fully vaccinated! So I have had to limit where I go and who I see. Which is so hard.

I actually find it worse now little one is here - so scared he will catch something, so we are still very cautious!

So so happy for you and glad your scan went well!! Two little miracles!! 💛💛

I hope you feel well after your vaccine and minimal side effects!! I was fine - only a sore arm (slightly worse after first, second dose hardly any soreness).

Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy!

Aw, I’m so pleased to hear your little one and you are both well… such hopeful and wonderful news 💛💛

I think I’m making the right decision to have it done. I’m fearful because I can’t bear the thought of losing another pregnancy but I know the risk of side effects is low from what I’ve read and heard and it’s more risky me catching Covid as well. I’m trying to be cautious as well, but it is getting quite difficult when everyone is out and about - I can’t hibernate forever.

I have a scan booked for next week to check everything is okay so at least I can focus on that too!

Wishing you lots of love and luck on your adventure as a mummy 💛 xx

I think you are making the right decision too - not sure if that helps 😇🥰 It is so difficult to know - and such a hard decision. It is awful that we have to make it in the first place, but I think it is the less risky option - out of the two. So I agree with you. And it is so hard to be cautious, cos like you say - this might be it for a very long time!

Enjoy your pregnancy and getting to bond with your little ones! It is such a magical experience! Science is amazing! Beyond grateful! 💛 All the best lovely! Stay safe!

Congratulations on your pregnancy and your IVF success. I'm also pregnant after my 5th IVF cycle! I spoke to a nurse this morning and she told me it is better to get the vaccine from the 13th week, because you will have to get the whooping cough vaccine from 16th week of pregnancy and the flu vaccine from September. You will need to wait 2-3 weeks between the first Covid vaccine and the flu vaccine to avoid conflicts. I know you will get conflicting views about that new vaccine, but I was told to get the vaccine as soon as possible too!

I think you can have the vaccine on the 13th week, unless you have stopped the steroids (I saw one of your posts about being on steroids). I had to stop my steroids (prednisolone) progressively, and by the 14th week I was not taking them anymore. As for the wedding, to be on the safe side, I would wear a mask and use hand gel, since the Pzifer vaccine offers you only 85% protection, and I was told that the second shot is really necessary to protect you and the baby. Hope the vaccination goes well! You will be fine!

Yes definitely, we are driving and wearing face masks and using gel. I’m obsessed with my gel and not letting people hug me! Xx

Oh, I thought you passed the 12 weeks completely:) I was told by my GP and IVF clinic that I should hold off the vaccine until after the 12 week mark, they were very adamant on having the vaccine after the 12th week is over:) Did your IVF clinic advise you on the vaccine?

Hi, the official RCOG advice is that the vaccine is safe at any stage in pregnancy. Some women prefer to wait until their second trimester but there is no clinical reason to delay. I do find it disappointing when medical professionals aren’t up to date with the latest advice. My IVF clinic sent me a Public Health England leaflet that was 3 months out of date...

Here is the official advice from the RCOG website:

Q. When in pregnancy can I have the vaccine?

The vaccine is considered to be safe and effective at any stage of pregnancy. There’s no evidence that delaying until after the first 12 weeks is necessary.

Hope that helps!

It is because I’ve had different opinions and I think that’s why I’m more nervous now… it’s why I also turned to this group to see what the majority of people did. It seems majority have been fine as well. I’m just nervous.

I’ll contact my consultant again for final reassurances! Thank you for sharing the above information xxx

My obstetrician also ti,do me that- I only decided to wait for second trimester as miscarriage rate is always higher in the earlier weeks and if something happened didn't want to blame myself. I had the second vaccination at 14 weeks and so far all is well Xx

Nooo, I’ll be 12+4. My IVF clinic actually sent me a leaflet a while back (just before treatment) with standard guidance on it, so I called the GP who said “off record” if it were her choice in my shoes, she wouldn’t get it done. Then because my screening and harmony scan went so well, I contacted my consultant who is taking over my care and he said he advises me to get it done but he did say now I’ve passed the 13th week mark so I reminded him that I’m almost at 13 weeks, not quite.

I wonder if I should delay it until next week if I can, at least then I will be just passed 13 weeks. Eek it’s just so nerve wracking xx

I agree it is very nerve-wracking...I think you will be perfectly fine to take the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine next week. And congratulations on your harmony and 12th week scan! I had mine too and am relieved that everything went well. Once you will take the vaccine you will be relieved!

Thank you. I’ve emailed my consultant again to ask his advice if I pushed it to next week and still attended the wedding and told my husband that if the advice is to not attend the wedding then I won’t go. I think I just need to calm my mind down and trust in the expert opinions which is to have the vaccine.

The twelve week screening was amazing, to see every little detail of the babies was fascinating and our doctor talked to us the whole way through showing us everything and explaining it all… for the first time ever, I felt happy during a scan as I’m usually terrified!!!

So pleased yours went well as well! When are you due? Are you going to find out the sex? We are because I think it will help me settle further into the pregnancy and bond with the babies! Xxx

I just read that you are going to a wedding? Just FYI your immune system is very weak being on steroids. I took them also while pregnant and unvaccinated and my fertility doctor essentially told me to stay home. The first shot isn’t going to protect you from being at the wedding. It’s two weeks after second shot that you would have immunity. I’d be much more worried to go to a wedding while pregnant than i would getting the vaccine.

I am, on the 24th. That’s why I have booked the vaccine to give me some protection, and I’ve just finished my dose of steroids but I know they stay in my system for a while so it’s also why I’m nervous about attending the wedding. I’ve asked the advise of my consultant to get his opinion and if it’s to avoid it then I absolutely will xx

Alot of help already and I know your booked in. I had my 2nd jab at 10 weeks (took a lot of researching to decide to do it) and had my dating scan last week and everything was great. It will be fine ❤️

Thank you 💗 on the advice of my consultant and my GP, I’ve moved my first jab back to next week when I’ll be 13+4… and that’s more because I need to be comfortable with having the jab and tomorrow felt too soon for me. But both their advice was to get the jab, it’s safer to have it than not 💛 so I think I’m making the right decision and it means I don’t have to shield as much! Xx

Hi XOXO13,Great post

👍. I am due to have my first covid vaccine today at 23 weeks pregnant with twins, was really scared, but was strongly advised to by my obstetrician and nurse, especially with a hard winter on the way. I was nervous about getting the vaccine but the thought of getting covid scares me even more. I have another ultrasound scan, next Tuesday so will be able to put my anxieties at rest and check in on the babies after the vaccine.

I would like to say a huge thanks to Jess1981 and IVFStruggler your responses really put my mind at ease, you ladies rock

😀!

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! I agree, it’s the right decision go make and my consultant strongly advises it. If I don’t get it, I have to shield which is no way of living whereas if I get the first jab, I’m at least protected somewhat (whilst remaining cautious!) so I’ll get it next week when I’m 13+4 and then have a scan the day after anyway and then just under two weeks after to monitor babies!

Hope everything goes well for you and your pregnancy 💗 xx
