I have been on the depo since I was 16, I am now 20, but did not receive my last depo. I was a week and a half overdue my depo and have still been sleeping with my partner. I went to the nurse to change to the pill and she has advised I wait 2-3 weeks (dont take my pill) and do a test as there is a chance I can be pregnant. She also advised me not to have unprotected sex in the next 2-3 weeks but me and my partner did sleep together at the weekend (I am overweight and have a high BMI therefore she says I could well be pregnant as the depo injection runs thin quicker under these circumstances). What do you all think? I feel I would be really happy to be pregnant, and now I want it to happen I just dont feel like it's going to...
Thanks guys x

There's no way of knowing if you're pre, until you take a pregnancy test when you miss your period. If you've had the depo injection that does prevent you ovulating and can take a while to wear off. My periods stopped completely when I had the injection and didn't start back for quite a while after I stopped having it. There's a chance it could have worn off but I'd say it's unlikely.
If you keep having unprotected sex though chance of you getting pregnant is obviously higher, can you not use condoms for the next few weeks and then test?
If you do want to become pregnant then maybe start taking folic acid daily and don't go back on the pill.
Thanks for your reply. I know it can take a while to wear off, but the way my nurse was talking, it was as if I can literally fall pregnant within the next month.
I started taking folic acid today and am going to continue to try and become pregnant haha! It's just so annoying waiting isn't it...
I guess they have to err in the side of caution. I came off the mire a coil to get pregnant and it took us just over a year to conceive. Best of luck to you.
