Hiya 38 weeks tomorrow with baby no 4.
I had midwife today and baby is back to back theres a chance he may turn to where he should be and been have given some exercises to do.
With him being no 4 it shouldn't be too long and painful labour hopefully but have been do lucky to have had such an easy pregnancy im worried about the birth bit now and convinced something's going to go wrong at the last minute!!!
I was wondering if any body had a successful labour with a back to back? Many thanks xxxx
I am in the same situation with a week to go. The doc said not to worry as the baby can move during labor and most likely will. They can also give you the hormone drip that they use for induction to help move the baby. Best of luck.
Thanks for reply 😊unfortunately I am the biggest wimp when it comes to needles and drips give me pain any day!!! so hopefully it wont come to that !!! All the best too xxxx
I had a back to back baby not going to lie it was the worse experience of my life if needed get an epidural! I was torn and cut, stitched inside and out had ventouse. Pain was awful this was with my first so didn’t know what to expect. I had another baby 2 years later and compared was super easy 3hrs at the hospital if you’ve had 3 babies you’ll know your pain threshold and can compare to your other labours. Back to back labours are usually long mine was 12 hours as baby squeezing through the wrong way maybe with having 3 already it could be easier as your body has been through labour before.
Get drugs if you need too hopefully it won’t been too bad xx
Thanks hun that sounds horrendous for you !!! Hopefully he will move !!?? At least im prepared for the worst!! Im at the point now if so long as he comes out healthy thats all that matters but would be nice if he just popped out!!!! Xxxx
Hi, I had a back to back baby and was induced. Found it very painful..didn't handle it well and gas and air and morphine made no difference. Good ending though as no assistance and no tears, minimal bleeding. Would recommend looking into hypnobirthing for relaxation techniques, remain upright etc. I didn't do any of the right things last time but hoping this time is very different, I'm 33 weeks. X

Both my babies were back to back. Number 1 I started having really gentle contractions 48 hours before she finally arrived. So it was long, but I was able to sleep and rest during that time and I stayed at home for most of it. I was booked to go to a midwife led unit which wasn't attached to the main hospital. I got to go in the birthing pool, the midwife was wonderful and let me get on with what I needed to do, keeping checks to a minimum. I used the gas and air. Unfortunately after 6 hours she tested my urine and I was getting tired and had ketones in it, and I wasn't dilated enough, so they called for the ambulance to take me to the main hospital. 15 minute journey in the bumpy ambulance, the gas and air ran out so I had to use all my female powers and breathe through the contractions without any relief. Arrived at hospital, they checked me and I was fully dilated. Midwife had to do a minor episiotomy, it was tiny and she had to pull while I pushed, but I did it all on gas and air and at the end I didn't even want to use the gas and air.

No, I didn't find it scary weirdly enough. I trusted that my body could birth my baby and used hypnobirthing techniques, going into myself and zoning out everything going on around me. I also trusted the staff and my husband to help me birth my baby. You have birthed before. Lie on your left side and visualise baby turning the right way round... it might not work but half the worry and anxiety is not having any control over the situation and at least then you're trying everything you can. My hypnobirthing teacher said she had a script to turn breach babies so they might have one to help turn back to back babies. Look for a hyonobirthing teacher in your area. I used Wise Hippo but there's lots of different ones around. Good luck x

I had back to back and it was very very painful but they didn’t realise until I went into theatre at 9cm on just gas and air 🙄 i think they thought I was a hypochondriac!!
I was being induced via syntocin drip so I think this added to the extreme pain. Labour was long contractions started on Monday night and I didn’t end up having her until Thursday morning. I ended up having episiotomy and forceps to get baby out.
At least they know your baby is back to back so if I were you would get an epidural straight away but hopefully bubba turns beforehand. Good luck xxxx

My number 3 was back to back and induced. Labour was 7 hours on gas and air and the easiest of the 3. It was pretty painful from 8cm to birth but manageable. Your body has done this before - you will be fine xx

Hi, my 4th child was back to back, I did have a small tear, but I delivered with no pain relief, having the 3 stitches was a bit uncomfortable though lol. Everything will be fine xx

I had a back to back baby, I actually thought my back was going to rip open -Plus I was on epidural! I really hope the baby moves if not you may wish to ask for epidural. As I think I might have passed out without it. Baby was big and head got stuck therefore had to have cut and foreceps. It’s not nice like a normal positioned delivery. 😕
Oh no how horrible for you!!! The thing is im really scared of needles 🙄 so an epidural would be my last option but on the other hand I dont want to leave it too late if I really need one 😬 if this monkey dosent move im just gonna trust the midwives they know best and go from there and hopefully all will be ok so long as baby is ok however he gets here is still a blessing in my eyes xxx
If you have an epidural you won’t even know about the needle, you can’t see anything when they put it in your back and they don’t leave it in. It’s a but like having an IV cannula, are you Ok with that?
My last born was back to back labour was quick tho but very painful x
