I read yesterday that several restaurants on our area are unable to get food supplies from their major food suppliers like Sysco and Rhinehart and it is expected to go on for at least the next month. They don't have enough people to work in their warehouses or drive delivery trucks. 😕 Perhaps that's because the extra $300 federal unemployment will end in a month?

I don’t think 🤔 the extra money for unemployment is helping economy. Why work when you make as much staying home. Help here seems to be the biggest concern with restaurants, stores, etc. Hopefully it starts to get better soon 🙏 We have lost several big restaurant chain’s here like Red Lobster, Chili’s, Golden Corral, Popeye’s, due to no help and supplies. 😔

I originally thought exactly that. Then I'm hearing it's because of the shortage of daycare.Well, yes daycare centers are having a major problem getting qualified daycare workers. They are willing to hire just about anybody who can pass a background check, no experience necessary. No knowledge either it seams like. No schooling related child rearing, BUT, they want to have kids someday, maybe? They think this is the placed to see if they like it?

But then, with the federal unemployment stimulus, they can make more unemployed than employed in daycare. We pay the ones watching our kids less than? Well just about anyone else. You can make more at a Red Lobster, Chili’s, Golden Corral, Popeye’s. And the qualified teachers, they get a nickel more an hour than those with no training.

If people were hungry, not working. They would go to work at the restaurants....at least there is food there! Then when all those jobs are filled, the daycares would have applicants too? And lack of daycare for working parents wouldn't be an issue. But workers won't work because they can't find daycare.

This is getting too complicated!

You are right, it is shameful what daycare workers are paid. My son's fiance works at a daycare while attending college to be an elementary school teacher. She could make more money almost anywhere else but is hoping it will look good on her resume.
