UK has put out a Warning for the virus 🦠 vaccine already

Really? What about? I’ve heard someone reporting being surprised that putting a needle in their arm hurt 😬
Apparently two nurses have had an allergic reaction to the Pifzer vaccine so they are warning people if you have allergy to drugs don’t take it.
Just wanna look out for you
I am highly allergic to drugs so I won’t be taking it. Thank you for caring 🤗
Do you know which drug allergies would cause the problem?
Caution is sensible, but if only two people out of the many who would have been vaccinated in the last couple of days and the thousands who were involved in the trials have had an allergic reaction then it's really not something to panic about. The clinical trials were carried out on some twenty-thousand people, and in any situations where there are thousands of people involved there will be some who have an adverse reaction - just go and look at clinical trials results for MS and thousand and thousands of other drugs. For example, the AstraZeneca trial participant who was diagnosed with MS turned out to have had it for some time, it just hadn't been picked up or diagnosed before the person participated in the trial - which also involved thousands of people. Out of that number of people at least a couple are likely to have MS which has not previously been diagnosed.
It's not panic to be cautious. And since in the US it will be a long wait for ordinary people to become vaccinated, it's prudent to opt for one of the other drugs with a different formulation/composition..
What is concerning me about the vaccines is--will we actually have a choice? If you have a lot of allergies, will you be given the option to accept another vaccine, or no vaccine at all? Well, you will then be imprisioned in your home indefinately, okay. I fear this vaccine thing will be just like the mask thing--politicians and politician-appointed beaurocrats are the ones creating these "mandates" and they do not consider health issues beyond COVID 19. In my state, if you had asma , COPD, emphasema you didn't have to wear a mask . . . until our governor went into a panic attack and said those things didn't matter anymore wear a damn mask! Though I take it back that health issues don't matter. They do, now! In fact our governor recently announced that health systems are now free to ration health care. If health issues increase a patient's co-morbidity and reduce that patient's chances of surviving COVID 19, that patient doesn't have to receive care. So, I'm seeing in my state there will be no choice. It will be down to the one the governor says she'll allow, that's it. I could stay home. But if my partner who goes to work 5 days a week, brings the virus home, I won't bother going to the hospital because I won't be treated.
I heard that at least the Pfizer one only provides an immunity for 7 days. I think that I will wait.
Where did you hear that Suki? 😷
I checked with my brother who is a retired pharmacist who checked with his friends who are still in practice and this is what they said.
If it’s only going to give immunity for 7 days what is the point? The Astra Zeneca is coming out soon, but I have heard that one person who did the trials had ms and she suffered an exasperation after it. 🤷♀️
🤬🤬🤬 Why does that not surprise me??? I was going to wait for the Astra-Zeneca one, too. But I suppose that Pfizer will probably work on making the immunity period longer in the next go-round. Who knows any more???😖 But I tend to agree with you. If the immunity period is so short, what's the point of taking the risk? I have also heard about side effects. There are already warnings about arranging to take off work when you get the vaccine because people have been reacting with really bad flu-like symptoms that have confined them to bed they got so sick...
Sukie427 - that "only 7 days immunity" claim seems to have got mixed up in the Chinese whispers chain - I think you'll find that it was about immunity not developing until after seven days - it takes time for someone's body to react to a vaccination so nobody is going to be immune to the virus straight after (i.e. 24 hours after) their first shot, and the Pfizer vaccine requires two doses for immunity to develop. And there's no way that any government would undertake such a massive and expensive vaccination program for something which only gave 7 days of immunity!
"How long does it take for immunity to develop fully after vaccination?
The trial began assessing immunity seven days after the second shot. We know that protective immunity builds up within four weeks of the first dose,..."
It could be that the reference to seven days is about the messenger RNA that's in the vaccine.
What happens to the mRNA in the body?
It is active for a few days then decays rapidly.

Interesting. Could be. It also could be that they were getting information from earlier trials. I think that if the current product is the final one, it'll come with the required crimp and health care professionals can assess it before they recommend it to their patients. BTW, have you or anyone else seen anything on using either vaccine in immunocompromised patients?
Keep an eye on this site and the main Barts site I've linked also. You can be pretty sure that as stuff is published it will appear on these sites - with commentary and analysis etc. Prof G was pretty badly smashed up in an accident a few weeks ago and won't be back at work properly for at least another couple of months, but he seems to be back posting all sort of stuff on Barts' web-pages now.

The search engine on the main site is a bit of a PITA but there's a lot of material on there - will keep you occupied for a while
I saw that- A couple of people who have severe allergies had a negative reaction to the vaccine. They seem to be recovering now, thank goodness
Don't panic! The care staff who had reaction to the vaccine were ones who have history of SEVERE allergic reaction and carriers of Epi pens. The MHRA who approved use of the vaccine and didn't rush through without checking fully are already looking into it and will publish their findings. We lesser mortals won't be offered the vaccine until next year by which time we should be in possession of more full information. 🥰
