They remind me of Illinois farmland where they grew everywhere.

We lived in Southern Illinois fir about 25 years. Frank was born there in 1936 in a family of 16 - he knows all about Illinois farm land. Corn everywhere!

I was further north for 43 years. I still love the deep green, neat rows of soybeans and corn. Oregon has a different beauty, but I do appreciate the weather here more!

I got stuck in a cornfield one time. Couldn't find my way out. Corn was so scrachtcy and itchy, and over my head. Couldn't see anything but corn in all directions and about 3-4 " between rows. Worse than any maze. I started hollering for Frank. Daughter Melanie heard me. Don't remember why I was there or what we were doing. Hated corn fields ever since. lol

Unless it’s a sweet corn field; we could eat our way out.

Thanks, going to plant some at new house. When is the best time to plant them? Ken 🐾🐾

I read: bloom in spring, plant bulbs in fall; bloom in fall, plant in spring. Both these lilies, the orange and yellow, I transplanted in the fall after the last frost, around October, about 4" deep. Some people north of KY dig them up and put in basement. I tried digging up my elephant ear bulb and putting under house because we don't have basement, but it froze and turned to mush. Now I leave it in the ground and cover with lots of mulch. Good luck.
