Malaria drug
interesting
Good to know, Johngm
Yes, that is one of the drugs they are testing.
There are several drugs used to treat malaria. Do you know which u were given?
20 yrs ago, on trip to Africa, I had to take a drug called Larium which is not the chloroquine being used in treating Covid 19.
The selection of malaria drug is based on resistance in a given geographic area. Per google, the us army changed to mefloquine due to resistance at some. Point 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Interesting. For the three summers (20 years ago) I worked in upper Egypt, I also took an antimalarial drug. I wonder how a drug designed to kill blood parasites works on a virus...the two diseases are so different.
About it staying in your system I'm not so sure. I took one of the anti malaria drugs for two years in Liberia and it never failed if somebody missed one dose they got malaria. It was constant usage that kept people from getting malaria. I had to take it for 6 weeks before I got there and 6 weeks after I got back. While there I took it once a week and my Mom watched us take it to be sure.
I've been reading about that drug for the last couple weeks and it was in the news again this morning.I saw it on Breitbart but it was also on ABC news with this headline: Coronavirus live updates: FDA gives anti-malaria drugs emergency approval to treat COVID-19
