I learned something very important this morning. Always call to confirm the time of your Dr. appointment the day before. I called to confirm my appointment for tomorrow and was told they sent me a letter to change the day which I never received.

Leslie, don't they call and/or email you to confirm? It's a pretty standard practice for every doctor I am seeing. Letter?? We are in the 21st century.

Sounds like the staff dropped the ball and forgot to contact you... I would mention it to the doctor if I were you.
They told me they mailed a letter but it was sent to my old address.
A phone call or email would have been the right thing to do.
I had a former eye doc who did this twice. (Notice I said former). I found it very peculiar.
Glad you called. Now that most of my doctors have electronic records, I get a text, email, or phone call when my appt has been changed. And text reminders 2 days before my appt in case I need to cancel.

In these busy days snail mail is NOT the way to contact patients about appointments. ONLY billing is acceptable if you can’t reach by phone or e-mail. You would think they would be educated enough to know this.
That is kind of odd in this day & age. You might want to have them put it in your records that you prefer a phone call or email rather than postal mail for any appointment changes.

It is a good idea to confirm appts. I have received letters from my neurologist of a changed appt giving the reason why the changed date and time. I prefer a written later because of cognitive reasons.

I keep track of my appointments with a small pocket calendar. That works for me except if I write the wrong date and or time. I'm pretty lucky that doesn't happen very often.
