I thought I was safe with macrocyclic gad, guess not

Recent article Canadian Assoc Radiologists, Sept 2018, states no diff between linear and macrocyclic gadolinium brain deposition but there’s also no definitive adverse effects that they have identified yet

Contrast dye risks for MRI. Despite prior reports, macrocyclic gadolinium contrast is no safer than linear gadolinium. But there is no evidence that deposits of gadolinium in brain tissue is harmful.

This kind of reminds me of years ago when smoking cigarettes had no danger that was known either

Thanks for the update! So now there’s no reason to question what type of contrast dye you are getting.

At least per that study. So much for a false sense of security 🤪

I still don’t understand why it’s being talked about 🤷‍♀️

This is one area I leave to the giant white coat dude (aka neuro) to keep me informed. It is my belief he has the greatest stake in all of this besides me.

I leave to no one. My neuro is terrific but it's not his brain. ;)

I should have said I keep educated enough to keep an open dialogue with him. It's not his brain, but I completely expect him to keep his patients out of harm's way. The contrast agents used in MRI's have been an ongoing debate in the past few years. I'm certain many more studies will need to be conducted.
