Dizziness?

I have had MS since 2001. Things had been great until around 3 years ago. Lately I have been having bouts of dizziness that are bad enough to make me nauseous and then let's forget about walking on these legs. It's not my meds cause I haven't started anything new since March. Is this another symptom of MS? Does anyone else suffer from this?

Hi tinainsc Sorry that your feeling so bad. I'm not a Dr nor would I pretend to be one. But I also get dizzy spells and a CPL have made me nauseous. 🙁😵 I take Dramamine for my vertigo.

erash and/or greaterexp I think had said something else one time?

You need to tell your Neuro about it. Or at least you're PCP😊

Welcome, BTW 😁

tinainsc , I'm sorry you're having such trouble with the vertigo. Unfortunately, it does appear to be a symptom of MS, but could be attributable to something else. I agree that you should speak with your neurologist to inform him/her, but also to see if there is a more effective treatment that may work for you. The level of vertigo you're experiencing is debilitating, but I pray you find something that helps, even an OTC like Dramamine or meclizine.

Let us know how you're doing and when you find something that helps.

I get vertigo fairly often but hardly ever to that extent. I have a prescription for Meclizine, but it doesn't always do a lot to help. When I first mentioned it, the MS nurse told me it could be MS, could be an inner ear thing, or could just be one of those lovely women over 40 things. Prayers that yours gets better soon!

I've had dizziness which I attributed to high dose Biotin, supported by extensive detailed reports to the same, and gradual ending with stopping the HD biotin. Still not completely gone, present in the morning. But gone by afternoon.

I've learned thru many years and many neurologist appointments, almost anything is possible. Just need to always rule out other possible causes, hence the need for a doc.

My favorite horibe symptom, was what I call, broken vertical hold vision. (think old tube tv's of yesteryear ) Imagine your whole world rolling upwards, abruptly jumping back down and starting to roll upward again, non-stop, at a rate of about 1 complete roll every 1 to 2 seconds, non-stop every waking moment till the relapse ended about a month later. Try actively working with that! Weird. Yes, vertigo was more nausiating. As long as it is MS, and you are still relapsing remitting, it should pass. Keep that in mind, it will help you through it!

tinainsc Hi, I’m sorry to hear about your dizziness. On occasion I have vertigo that appears when I’m getting out of bed. I went to my chiropractor and he was able to take care of it pretty easily. It hasn’t been a permanent fix so I need a little “tune up” periodically. I hope you find something to help.

I do have dizziness and ringing in my ears.

My Dr wants me to go to an ENT to make sure it is not something else.

I do take visteral for the dizziness but it doesn't always work

Ringing in my ears, since I was a kid. Vertigo, had that once, well before ms. Been to ENT's, but not for dizzy. No sinus congestion...... Had one serious sinus infection as a kid, nearly died they tell me. The dizzy is nearly gone now off biotin.

I never related the dizziness to the biotin. Thanks for your story.

Hello tinainsc, it's Fancy1959. I have been called a dizzy blonde more times than I care to admit but I'm fortunate in that I do not have any actual vertigo spells. I do believe I remember other members in our chat room talking about their dizziness from time to time. So what you have done is a great way to find out by simply asking a question. Here it is always safe to ask questions, voice concerns, and simply speak to others who understand. Our chat room is full of the most caring and compassionate people I have ever met I do not believe I have spoken to you before so this is my official welcome into the family. Until we speak again please be careful and make sure you keep safety equipment close when you have to move around to prevent you from falling from the vertigo. Remember together we are stronger. I look forward to speaking to you soon.

I have been having positional vertigo the last six days and Dramamine or meclizine seem to keep it in check. I have had it bad enough to where it made me sick, so far not this time. I would discuss this with your neurologist and make sure you don’t have something going on with your ears as well. But I do think MS affects the vestibular nerve that causes dizziness from what I’m reading from everyone’s post.
