Prayers: So tomorrow is my lumbar puncture... - My MSAA Community
Prayers
Prayers are with you and I hope everything goes well ππΌππΌππΌππΌ
Plan to do NOTHING afterwards and you should be fine. Best of luck!
Thanks for the info
Hope all goes well. Good advice from starlight5 . Blessings Jimeka π¦ π π€
Iβm probably not the one to go by, but thought it might help a bit to say mine went very well. They gave me a local anesthetic so I really had no discomfort at all. I was just fine before, during, and afterward. Aside from everyone elses good advice just breath deeply, let your breath out slowly and relax. Be positively and donβt worry or be scared about what might happen, after all it does no good and just adds to any discomfort you may feel. Best wishes. Bybthis time tomorrow youβll be back home taking it easy. Youβre in my prayers that all goes well as it did for me.
Thank you for your words of encouragement
Good luck to you I will pray for you ππΌππΌππΌ
Prayers. Mine like HathMD52 mine went well. I had no issues at all. Bring somebody to talk to or something to read. The laying down part afterward is extremely boring.
kvw_zkw , the technique has improved vastly, so that helps immensely! Praying for a good experience and for clear answers. Tell us how you did when youβre ready.
Prayers are being sent your way. Remember after tomorrow it will be behind you.
kvw_zkw it's Fancy1959. I'm sending you a big hug to this Electronic Connection and bunches of thoughts that are positive and prayers. Having said that the spinal taps or lumbar punctures I have become so routine they're down to a science. It's nothing to worry about to try to de-stress and relax and know that you're in the hands of experts that know what they're doing.
Now The Catch 22 is the 36 hours after your lumbar puncture. This is what makes the difference between a lumbar puncture that is smooth and easy and a lumbar puncture that last for days, gives you severe headaches, and messes with you more than you can realize. To do the smooth and easy lumbar puncture you need to have things prepared ahead of time. You want to lay absolutely flat for the entire time only allowing yourself to get up to use the bathroom. Have some food handy and try to have somebody stay with you to help. Keep the remote in one hand and if you have a laptop or a notebook that in the other hand and do not get off your back. I thought that I did this well and I still leaked spinal fluid and I was absolutely miserable and sick for the next four to five days. I couldn't set up, I couldn't even eat setting up. If I did I got sick and had a severe headache and I had to lay right back down. I remember eating laying down. Boy that was fun but trying to eat at the table made me so sick I couldn't stand it.
I wish I had read this last night and warned you ahead of time. Hopefully you still have somebody that is going to stay with you and they can help with the suggestions I made. Best of luck with the puncture and remember just to lay down and relax all day today and tomorrow morning and you should be absolutely fine with no lasting side effects from your puncture. Please let me know how it goes and until we speak again take care. Remember together we are stronger. Hugs, positive thoughts, and prayers are sent to you via this Electronic Connection. I wish I were closer to help you out. Fancy.
kvw_zkw: You are in our prayers π. It is easier than you think. They have come a long way since my first one in 2004. God's Peace and courage!!
Prayers coming your way!! I had one and I have to say it wasn't bad at all. I was quite surprised actually and I hope your experience will be the same. Let us know how you make out.
@kvw_zkw You will do fine. Just lay flat the rest of the day. I didn't and I had to go back for a blood patch. That is what really hurt. The head ache was horrible. Most people don't have that problem because they are told to lie flat till the next day. I had no idea.
On the way home now, feeling ok. Just gonna chill.
@kvw_zkw Thatβs great news! Itβs over! Yay π
As others have said, you want to lay FLAT. There is slightly less cerebrospinal fluid in your CNS now, so until your body replenishes it, gravity will pull it away from your brain (a little!) if youβre standing. Have a nice rest!!
We knew you could do it! Now is the time for YOU! Let everyone wait on you and bring you food, etc. Stay in bed...flat...and relax. I was told to do that for Four days! It was lovely in the beginning but by the end I was bored. Glad it's over for you!
kvw_zkw everyone is telling you to relax and lie flat which I think is great advice. But I was also told to HYDRATE well drinking lots to replace the fluids that were taken. Yes, you'll have to get up to go to the bathroom more, but I guess it is worth it as I did not have any problems after my LP.
Prayers!
kvw_zkw , hope it went well and that it wasn't too painful, and most especially I hope that you get good news!
No pain at all, all is good. Waiting for appt
Mine did not hurt one bit. The tech was gentle and precise. No pain. Wish I hadnβt been so anxious.
Exactly, the doctor was amazing
