Hi ,I had been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism 12 months ago.Following recent blood tests l was refered to a Haemotologist.

I attended the appointment yesterday and l was told l had MGUS and asked if l would join a study program, which l agreed to..

10 years ago l had an Ablation for A.F

3 years ago, stage 3 breast cancer.

12months ago Hypothyroidism.

I also have fybromyalgia ,from the age of 25 ,l am now 76.

This latest diagnoses has come as a shock and l have very little understanding of what it is exactly other than being a precursor for Myeloma.

Is there anything l should be doing or questions l should be asking.

Thank you.

I was diagnosed with MGUS 7 years ago. I have a blood test every year to monitor the condition. As my consultant explained only a small percentage of people go on to have myeloma. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your positive response.I went for my hospital appointment believing it was a referral regarding my Thyroxine level so it came as a bit of a surprise and a condition l had not heard of previously.

Keep well and thank you again.

You’re welcome. I’d try not to let it worry you too much. Mine hasn’t changed at all. As I said it’s only a small percentage that goes on to have myeloma. I wish you all the best.

I don't know anything about it ,whether it's a faulty gene or did l have it before the breast cancer or after.

It's reassuring to know that like you l shall be monitored regularly.

Thank you again..
