I think the main thing is to be careful with your socks, whichever type of boots you are wearing. Some suppliers can supply silk liners which should be gentle on your skin, which you could wear warm socks on top of. And if not silk liners, you might find that you can tolerate cotton or bamboo socks better that woolly ones.
