Hi my son just got flucloxacillin.

Will they still work if I give him it open.

He is finding it hard to take them.

Yes it will. The coating is not part of the treatment! We had to do this for our son when he was a wee boy all those years ago.

If these are capsules then you can open and mix it with yougurt or similar thing and discard the capsule shell - it will work.

It also comes as liquid - perhaps you can request the doctor to prescribe it again with liquid form saying he can't swallow capsules / tablets?
