Pregablin helped a bit but the weight gain was unnerving. I actually found the older drug Gabapentin better for me but from what I read on here it tends to be the other way round.
To be honest you'll notice if its likely to effect you that way because you'll find yourself ridiculously hungry. When I was put on Pregablin I was anorexic so everyone was very happy when I started putting on weight, I was less pleased.
Prednisone long-term usage has scary issues. I was on it for five years for PMR and when I decided to stop taking the prednisone, I took it slowly but was immediately racked with incredible pain. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia before I was correctly diagnosed with PMR. It took a lot of my own research online to discover that long-term usage of prednisone causes adrenal gland atrophy. The gland produces natural cortisol which decreases the inflammation in your body. Long term usage of prednisone causes the adrenal glands to stop producing their own cortisol. Three years later,my adrenal glands are working again and the inflammation in my blood is almost nonexistent. Unfortunately, I now have severe fibromyalgia. While I no longer feel like I habe a really bad sunburn all over my body at the slightest touch, I am still wracked with pain everyday.
Give your body time to adjust at no longer having the help of the prednisone. The inflammation should go down. Have your doctor explain what inflammation tests were done. They are able to tell if it is from arthritis or PMR. Hope your pain soon begins to subside.
