Hi Yellosub, I bought my dad a floor cycling machine which he could do in his chair. We also did exercises to music which he enjoyed. We just made up the exercises which consisted of stretching limbs out to try to preserve his range of movement, making circles with his shoulders and moving his head in different directions. It was something he could do with mum which she enjoyed too.

I did talk to the Physiotherapist from the hospice who said that encouraging any movement is beneficial as long as it isn't uncomfortable or painful.

I wish you well.

Hi Yellosub

Like Helen, I bought my husband a floor cycling machine and thats helped to maintain some strength in his legs for mobility. He also uses a stretch band wrapped round his feet to stretch his arms as well as for extra leg exercise.

There's quite a few YouTube vids that you can look at that are yoga based, primarily for parkinsons sufferers but theyll still be helpful for MSA. But that depends on your current health so be careful and don't overdo it.

Good luck and look after yourself

The exercises that you can do depend on what stage you are at. Exercises that keep your core muscles working are helpful right from the early stages and then all the things others have said. Do try to get some input from a Neuro physio and see if there are any Parkinson’s groups that do exercise groups, I believe that they are happy to include MSA patients. They might be doing online groups. Geoff did get involved with a Neuro hydrotherapy group which was helpful whilst he was still on his feet.
