Hi Denise,

I had stabbing pains pains in my head before I was diagnosed with PV.

I think if I were you I'd push my haematologist for an explanation and investigation.

Sorry not to be of much help and I'm quite sure it will be nothing to worry about, but best checked out - if only for your peace of mind.

Best wishes

Louise

Something similar sometimes times happens to me for a few days in a row then stops, usually seems to happen when my HCT is a bit high! Worth getting your bloods checked? jane

Hi Denise I've been on HU since 1996 - on the whole very well, apart from tiredness. I have experienced momentary stabbing head pains but then I ask myself, is this because of ET/HU or would I have got them anyway? What I tend to do is make a diary note of a particular sympton and see how often it occurs and then raise it when I have my check up. Not certain if that helps, but wish you well Maggie

Hi Denise,

funnily enough have suffered them myself just this week and also recently had sharp stabbing pains in my eyes, which was something not experienced before. A bit like Magg wondered whether they are related to ET (diagnosed 1996), or just caused by a stressful day, and tension. Have experienced the head pains before - over the years, sometimes they seem to be followed by a cold. However, this week there seemed to be more than usual. Will certainly ask about them at my next check up. Be interested to hear if anyone has been given any explanations as to what they might be and if I get an answer will share on this site.

I get stabbing pains in my head. My last oncologist said they were stress headaches. If I lay down and relax they subside. I an taking a new supplement to help with anxiety.

When you say your vision went funny, was it mosaic like. Look up visual migraines. I get those too. I'd call doctor and get your counts checked. Visual migraines don't last more then 25 minutes.

Hi Guys, That is interesting about visual migraines - I have PV and get those visual migraines too and have done for a number of years. Wonder if it is a common symptom of MPDs?
