Would hydroxyurea affect INR levels?

Have been on HU 500mg a day since June. Recently increased and have found my INR levels have risen. Nurse struggling to get this under control. She doesn't think the HU would affect this but just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem??

hi R8ifg, your inr shouldnot be affected by hydrox- its a worry that its high as it increases your clotting risk and suggests the hydrox isnt effecive at that dose. i would see a haematologist not a nurse for appropriate management and further investigation, good luck, karteeka

Hi R8ifg I have been on HU now for 18 months and also on warfarin. My INR does not seem to have been affected by HU. I am currently on 1500mg daily and each time they have increased the HU is has not affected the INR

I dont think they should be related (but not a medic so dont take as gospel)
