Hi, can you please tell me what PRP stands for?

Platelet rich plasma. It’s a treatment for injuries, but it is derived from one’s own blood.

hi mountainbiker, would PRP be the same as EPO injections? When I had those my platelets went up, which is a problem if you have ET. Jo

Where are you getting it? We do PRP for hair growth and there are no restrictions on that. Joint injections maybe a little different but orthopedic should know. But for dermatology purposes I don’t know of any restrictions

I have Jak2/ET and in CHR for over 2 years. I had 2 xPRP to hip joint in the spring of this year and it went very well. I am 69 and have arthritis and am walking much better than before.

However, PRP is a relatively new kid on the treatment block for many things and we all have different MPNs and our own chemistry.

My (expert in MPN) haematologist had no qualms when I asked her if I could have it done. My cousin's husband and my dog had good results too.

Keeping active is a very good thing for us all.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes.

I was told by my Orthopedic doctor that having PV excluded me from getting PRP to my bad knee but have several visco gel injections. Kerry

Thanks so much for the input. Turns out my wrist was in fact fractured and it wasn’t a tendon injury (that would have been an PRP candidate). I fell going after a ball in Pickleball 🤣
