Sepsis and Covid

I had ET in 2016, the re-diagnosed with MF and atrial fibrilation in 2017, various treatments since, but both stable for the last year, but admitted to hospital in March with Sepsis and then Covid , but discharged after 4 weeks without any apparent organ damage, but I have struggled with weakness, and fatigue since. I don't know if this is the after effects of the Sepsis, the MF blood tests came back OK 3 weeks ago, although I was taken off Jakavi while being treated for the Sepsis and Covid ( which only seemed to last for a few days - just a cough ) .

Anyone had any similar experience.

Hi Andrew8. I have ET and thankfully have managed to avoid covid so far however the week before Christmas I was admitted to hospital. In a very short space of time I went from feeling fine to having chills and a temperature. Turned out I had a kidney infection that I was unaware of which progressed to sepsis. I was in hospital for 5 days then readmitted 10 days later with a viral infection. While I can't comment on covid recovery I can tell you it took 8 weeks of complete rest to recover from sepsis. I thought a couple of weeks and I would be back to what I call my new normal since et diagnoses and other health conditions. Unfortunately not and so I'd imagine having covid as well as sepsis you will need to give yourself plenty of time to recover from that. It's very frustrating but listen to your body and if you feel tired then rest. Hope you start to feel better soon. Take care.Mandy

Sounds like it has been a rough go of late. It is no wonder you are feeling fatigued. Wishing you a speedy recovery from the sepsis and COVID, and a successful treatment plan for the MF.
