MPN Consultant - NE England

Is anyone here living in Northumberland? If so what hospital do you get monitored at? I’ve been having 6 month reviews at Freeman in Newcastle. I’ve had 3 reviews now and find the consultant of the day really hit or miss. The one I saw in February told me I’d have to wait for my age group for a covid jab as ET makes no difference and isn’t on the vulnerable list 🤦‍♀️

I see on the list there’s a Dr Roderick Oakes in Cumbria. I don’t mind travelling, its probably not too much further than to Newcastle. Has anyone successfully requested to see MPN specialist on the NHS?

I was diagnosed privately and was never really monitored (GP would do a FBC when I reminded them), only by chance the MPN specialist was covering the obstetrics clinic when I was pregnant, that I got registered with the MPN clinic (different hospital, and we’ve now moved 300 miles).

We’re trying for another baby and I’d like to have things set up properly so that if I do get pregnant, I don’t have to fight the whole way.

my ET is stable (~850-900), JAK2+.

Hello Anniepops. My husband goes to the haematology department at Wansbeck hospital Ashington, Northumberland. He was recently diagnosed with chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia CMML and he has Jak2 mutation. He has seen different consultants and they have all been very professional. Hope this helps.
