« Our data support the hypothesis that IFNα targets JAK2V617F HSC by inducing their exit from quiescence and differentiation into progenitors. Our observations indicate that treatment efficacy is higher in homozygous than heterozygous JAK2V617F HSC and increases with high IFNα dosage in heterozygous JAK2V617F HSC »

Hi Manouche. Thanks for posting this. Do you know how you can find out if you are homozygous or heterozygous JAK2V617F? I looked up my original test but it only gives the % allele burden. I have had only 2% drop in allele burden after over 12 months on PEG (but low dose). So I'm wondering if I'm therefore heterozygous from this article. Thanks.
Hi MPNBlog,
I suppose you could ask your haem to check your homozygosity vs heterozygosity during your next AB test. I wouldn’t worry about the AB % which is frequently the same or can even increase during the first 12 months of interferon therapy. It seems that the 2nd or 3rd year of INF therapy have more impact on the AB.
