I think it's something you could see your GP about. I've had various blotches in the past, with explanations varying from telangiectasia to stasis dermatitis. Good luck.

Hi, I've got exactly the same as you describe, it's like a mottled rash all over the back of my lower legs, it doesn't itch or cause me any issues. I have shown my consultant and he doesn't seem too bothered. I'm on hydroxycarbamide and think it might be caused by that. Please let me know if you get any sort of diagnosis.

All the best

Ian

Hi, I started noticing this on my lower legs about 8 years ago and consulted GP. It was only when I saw a locum that he recommended I saw a haematologist. This followed to being diagnosed with Jak2 ET.The haematologist doesn't seem at all concerned about the rash which has now worsened and is on the upper part of my feet too now. I think that sun, especially on my feet has exacerbated the problem. I don't think that anything can be done about it.

I was very concerned about it at first especially as it worsened. I now accept that it is what it is and as consultant seems unconcerned will go along with it. I would like some sort of explanation though. First I have seen of anyone having this problem.

I mentioned it to my consultant but she said she didn't know anything about rashes Duh! Saw the nurse at the doctor's she said it could be anything Duh! Nobody seems interested, I have it on the top of my feet as well as half way up my calf's like you say it is what is doesn't seem to go away!

Hi daisy. I get it from the tops of my legs to my feet in hot weather. It looks unsightly when i wear shorts. It was what prompted me to go to the GP in the first place after a walk in the winter but i get it all the time now when i get too hot. I've got pv. Jak 2 and on hydroxycarbamide but it's the blood overheating. If i hadn't started with the rash i wouldn't have known i had a problem other than the pain in the side due to an enlarged spleen. Hope this answers your question. Take care.

Thank you I was beginning to think is it due to the hot weather I'm on Hyroxycardmide I have ET/PV I had it before I started meds so thinking it can't be meds, Probably is due to the blood over heating as you say, Hoping it will go away in time if not a trip to the GP... Take Care...

Hi, I don’t get it on my legs because they are always covered but I do get it on my arms when I have been out in the sun for even the shortest of times. It looks like tiny blood spots all over my arms. I am also on Hydroxycarbimide

Dear Daisy-May. Before my MPN diagnosis I had similar odd looking non itchy rashes. I had a diagnosis of vasculitis , which doesn’t mean much. I think its part of the whole overactive inflammatory system. I noticed that when my dose of atorvastatin was increased , the rash went. Recently I ran out of statin , and the rash came back - on my left arm this time. Went away when I restarted the statin.

I had this before my MPN diagnosis it's so strange and wondering what is causing it fingers crossed 🤞 it will disappear on its own not holding my breath though.. I'm on statins have been for a long time...

Vasculitis is an autoimmune condition. I had vasculitis on my right leg. Came so suddenly. I came home from work, made dinner, had a shower and sat up on my bed reading a book. My hubby walked in and said “What the hell have you done to your leg?” It looked like the road map of Britain on my leg with every blood vessel leaking into the skin. After already having 3 DVT’s we went straight to the hospital. Blood tests showed positive ANA. Took ages to heal because it caused a couple of ulcers. It’s a horrible condition and one I wouldn’t want to have repeated.

The rash you describe sounds like petechiae. They are tiny flat spots under the skin that may appear red, brown or purple and appear in clusters that look like a rash. It usually appears due to blood leaking from the capillaries typically due to clotting disorders. I also have had this for many years on the front & back of calves and some small areas on my feet. I have PV & have been on HU (hydroxyurea) for 7 years. My heme/onc is not worried about it as it is mainly a symptom of PV and not cause for worry, but bring it to your heme’s attention to make sure. Mine also brightens in color when its hot out or exposed to warm shower.

Thank you for your reply I think it's to do with this warm weather mine brightens in colour when it's hot, I mentioned it to the consultant but she didn't know anything about rashes it's hard to describe over a the phone, I had it before I went on HU Same as you must be a symptom of PV..

I had petechia that started at my ankles and worked it’s way up my calves almost to my knees. Asked my hematologist who said it could be from 12 years on HU but more likely from taking 325 mg. aspirin daily. He reduced aspirin to 81 mg. per day and petechia disappeared.

Thank you for your reply I don't know what's causing mine I've only been on HU a couple of months but had the rash before I started the meds I'm on 75mg aspirin, Could be the warm weather..

I am taking ruxolitinib (20 mr. twice daily) and 81 mg aspirin nightly for PV JAK2 and apixaban (5 mg twice daily) for thrombocythemia due to blood clots a year ago. I have had the bruises on my arms and legs, but now I developed a huge circle of Petechiae that is the size of the bottom of a water bottle. Two of my nails have lifted off also. Is this due to the disease or the medications? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
