Does anybody take Jakavi to treat JAK2 ET? Is it better than hydroxyurea?

Jakavi vs. hydroxyurea
I was on hydroxyurea for years for Jak 2 ET, but when my doctor thought I was progressing to PV, he changed me to jakafi. Within a year, I developed anemia and my platelets continued to increase. I finally found an mpn specialist who did a BMB and said I did not progress to PV, but to MF intermediate 1. She took me off jakafi, and put me back on hydroxyurea. She felt the jakafi may have contributed to my anemia. Just my experience.
All the best to you.
I spent 2 years on hydroxycarbomide for pv Jak2 , it brought most of my blood numbers into line with the exception of my white count which continued to rise reaching 30. I've now been on jakafi for 2 years. My spleen reduced by 2 cm and white count now hovers in the mid 20s. Every 5/6 months I am put on a short, low dose of iron tablets to balance things out.Carol
