Morning all...
Recently came across this article that makes some very interesting observations about the other mutations that are often not tested for when undertaking an NGS gene mutation panel. These tests might help identify key issues of genes also known to affect and or cause a range of different types of cancer...
Looked up the source document (the whole thing). Despite the limitation of this panel in regard to certain of the relevant genes (e.g. CALR) that the authors note, it does sound very promising. I absolutely believe that a more comprehensive look at the entire genome will help us understand the variability we wee with MPNs (an other cancers). It will also help us to tailor treatment to match the genotype of the patient. Must say a good but of it went over my head, but it was very interesting to see. Thanks for posting it.
Very interesting article. It just shows that more and more, blood cancers are getting the attention they deserve with more advanced research all the time. Very encouraging. Thanks, Steve, for sharing it.
