Upon reading some replies to recent posts on the forum, i'm concerned that some people think that once they have had the 2nd shot of the recently approved vaccines that they 'can get back to living life pre- covid'. The Deputy chief medical officer (Johnathan Van- Tam) was specifically asked this question when appearing at the press conference tuesday and was quoted as saying " we hope after the second jab that it will prevent serious illness" if you caught covid. ( note, he said "hope") but perhaps the most crucial and important part of the answer to the question posed to him was could Grandparents mix with their Grandchildren once they had the second jab. The answer was an emphatic no,as he said "Even though we hope it prevents serious illness in you, we don't know whether you can still transfer covid to others and it will be many months before we do know" and you "shouldn't give in to wild abandonment." So please remember that if and when you get your second jab. Best wishes and keep safe. Tina.x.🤗
